Q: I'm buying this for a friend of mine who lives in NYC. I'm worried it will be stolen off his bike though... is this easily removed and stolen?

Yes, you have to remove it a half turn to pull it off to install batteries unplug the button rotated, 180° and stick it in your pocket unless that person gets mugged it won’t get stolen

Q: Is it possible to get a longer cord? I want to mount it on my seat post facing backwards so I can alert cars coming up behind me.

No idea why Maurice Pinder would take the time to provide you with false information. “DB140 EXTRA LONG TRIGGER 150CM (5FT)” Hornit most certainly makes a longer trigger. You can easily purchase the item.

Yes it is easy to replace the batteries. To change the batteries, unplug the thumb button wire, then turn the horn body 90 degrees (quick release) and lift off the handlebar bracket. Replace batteries, then reverse the above procedure. Re-Plug the thumb button wire. The horn works very well and load enough for people to hear you coming.

Q: Unit works fine, but it sounds like there's a loose piece of plastic inside that rattles around when I shake the unit? Is that normal?

No! It should not sound like a rattle. If you are very concerned ask if you can return it for a replacement. Even if you are passed the return deadline, a reasonable company will allow for a replacement.
