Yes you can buy a bic 4-color pen for under $3. I did and it ended up costing me more money. Why I didn't just take the first hint from bic I don't know. My first bic pen leaked, all of a sudden the green ink blotted up. When I grabbed it out of my pants pocket it got all over my hands. The replacement bic I wasn't so lucky as it leaked inside my white shirt pocket. This time the blue leaked and it wasn't pretty. This time I thought there has to be something better. I bought the pentel rolly 4 color. I received it broken. I still kept it I really didn't care if it had a clip or not. Well, the pen wrote horrible. You had to work it just to write. Colors were not vivid, wrote scratchy. I looked again and that is when I saw it, the Uni-ball Jetsream 4&1. $16.50 I thought was more than I wanted to spend but hey I was out of choices and look how much I spent on the cheap ones. I even ended up ruining a good shirt. I received it in good condition, colors are vivid, the ink just glides across the paper, the color mechanisms are nice and easy to use, nice feel to the pen, and a great balance. I am very happy with this purchase. I am going to buy a couple more to use around the house and in my office. Do yourself a favor spend a little more.

When I first received my pen, it arrived defective and broken and I was very upset as I had just spent $10 on a pen. However, in a phone call that took less than 2 minutes a replacement was sent to me and I received it the next day. Now that I have a working pen, I am happy to say I love it! It was totally worth the $10. It is very comfortable to write with, the ink comes out smooth and it is very easy to switch between colors. I have a lot of hand issues including carpal tunnel and hand cramps, especially when writing, and I can take notes through a three hour lecture with this pen and also use it all day at work. I am going to buy the other colors and get one for my mom. The multi color feature is great for nursing.

Being able to have multiple pens AND a pencil is so great especially when the quality of all of them is really good. The grip is also super comfortable. Love it 😁

Great use of an old idea and great functionality but for some might be a bit too fat for constant use. For my hand I can use it for the special purposes for which it was designed; when I need colored pens and a pencil at the same time. But because of the excellent ball pens this company is know for; the easy and fluid roll, the slight inconvenience of the "fatness" of this pen becomes only an afterthought.

Nice weight to the pen but still light. Love the mechanical pencil feature. Not the hardest springs when selecting colors. But secure enough. Little easy to retract with using unused color button. Eraser has a small secure snap cover. Wished it was bigger eraser that wasn’t covered, to save time…

Everyone knows that nurses have favorite pens… this one is, by far, the best pen I’ve ever used on the job and I guard it with my life! I keep other pens in my scrub pockets to lend when a patient or coworker needs one… this one is MINE! And with the refills, I never have to worry about running out of ink!

Love this pen. Easy to use. Colors are great. A little difficult to change pencil lead.

The gel ink makes the pens write with easy. I’ve had mine for 4 years now and the ink hasn’t run out. This includes 3 years of full time college studies. The colors are bright and never dry out. The pen itself is comfortable in my hand during use. I recommend this pen to any student.
