Perfect first time
I carefully read the previous reviews before buying this superb cake tin and followed the advice for a 4 egg mix for the bottom and a 3 egg mix for the top. I lightly greased the tin and the cakes slipped out very easily. The cake mix did go well over the top but I trimmed them down while they were still in the tin. Next time I will take more care with the top trimming; as it is a sort of spiral the lose end wanted to carry on unravelling which made it a bit tricky but it looked fine once it was decorated. I cooked both for about an hour but my oven is quit a gentle beast so it may not take as long in other ovens. I have shown the photograph to many people who have been impressed so, give this tin a go and I am sure you will be happy with the results.

Good tin quality but awful sticky labels
The cake tin is great quality but the two labels stuck inside and on the bottom were absolutely awful to remove. I'm not sure why they've been stuck down so firmly with glue, most cake tins have an easy label removal. Lost an hour trying to clean ready for use.

Fantastic Product!
I had read loads of different reviews about which mould to buy and what mixture to use etc. before buying. I chose this one because it was good value for money compared to some others, and it arrived promptly with no problems. We filled the base and put it in the oven first, then after about 15 mins added the top. Unfortunately we made the mistake of greasing the top with butter before putting the base into the oven, so obviously when we came to add the top, the butter had all melted and pooled at the bottom of the tin (the pointed bit). Although we tried to spread it around evenly, the cake ended up sticking when we tried to get it out. The base came out perfectly first time, though. I would therefore recommend cooking each bit separately, although obviously it takes longer.I used a bog standard victoria sponge recipe, 4 egg for base and 3 for top. We did the base in chocolate and top in vanilla to ring the changes a bit. It's a fun piece of equipment, and the finished product is sure to be loved by small children - and not so small children! So pleased with our first attempt (even though technically the top part was our second attempt) that I put a photo on Amazon. Having done it once I've built some confidence and can see myself using it over and over again...Thanks Amazon, you've done us proud once again!!!

Great pan just took a bit of getting used to.
Great quality pan. The best advice I can give is to make sure you butter and flour the inside of the pan before adding your cake mixture and don't leave the cake cool in the tin or it'll be stuck fast, and when you have to start fishing it out with a knife you know it's game over! Tip it upside down after 5 minutes and give it a jiggle and that should do the job. You may also need to bend the middle ever so slightly to make sure when you put the cake ingredients in that it's level (I've had to do this once as I think it got a little bowed in the post). I use a 6 egg madeira sponge recipe, I'm pretty sure you can get away with a 5 egg mixture but I prefer to have the extra so it looks really full and I can cut off what's not needed (and taste to make sure the sponge is ok).

Probably great, but hopeless stickers!
This is probably a great tin but I sadly couldn’t get past the insanely sticky stickers which they plastered on the inside and outside of the tin. Spent on and off over an hour soaking and then scrubbing the things off with no luck. I was just left with a horrid sticky residue. So back it went to Amazon….Whoever the idiot is at Eddington’s who came up with the idea of putting the strongest adhesive known to man onto a sticker - they should be fired! Numptys!

Show stopper with Ease
I bought this after reading some of the other reviews on this product, and going on its superior star rating when compared to more expensive alternatives. I was not disappointed with the quality of the tin or its baking results. Some reviewers suggested a 6 egg mix, and the sticker on the pan itself also advised the same - so this was the route I took, however I did ignore the cooking time on the sticker - you need to have a good 1.5 hours minimum for cooking in this tin. I achieved the best results by cooking the base for about 40minutes, before putting the remaining cake mix in the cupcake top pan, and then cooking until both pans met the clean skewer test. (the base needs a little more than half the total cake mix)I have done 2 cakes in this so far, with 2 different cake mixes, and both were successful - the first for my daughters 3rd birthday party (chocolate marble recipe) I decorated with regal icing on the base (and by rolling small balls of coloured icing into it I go a polka dot effect 'case'), followed by piping buttercream icing around the top section. The second cake (basic sponge recipe) was for her friends at nursery, and so I drizzled a thickish paste of icing sugar mixed with water and a dash of natural food colouring instead to create the case, and piped buttercream on the top - this looked effective also (her friends were impressed)Overall, if you're wanting the "wow" factor for a cake, which is simple to achieve - I would definately recommend this tin. Our family, and more importantly my daughter, were all very impressed!

Gaint cup cake, maybe two seperate sections better!
Was very happy with this item, I made a gaint cupcake for my friend over 15 years ago using a coffee filter from my coffee machine, the ones that look like gaint cupcake cases! Have wanted to make gaint cupcakes for other friends but since moving to the UK couldn't find the coffee filters I used in Canada! I loved the idea of this tin but way to expensive, so was very happy to find it at an affordable price. It took a bit longer to bake than it says in the instructions and the fact that you have to bake the base longer than the top is a bit annoying as you need to add the top halfway through the baking which makes it difficult to grease and flour the top section as it is too hot!
