Good All-Manual Portrait Lens
This lens is a good aftermarket accessory for my Nikon for the pricing offered. It is a sharp and very bright all manual standard portrait lens. Nice and heavy, smooth focusing and aperture rings (no clicks on the aperture adjustments but it allows for more minute adjustments that way), with seemingly good materials in its makeup.

Best manual focus 50mm lens yet
Meike 50mm f0.95 reviewI received my Meike 50mm from Amazon US 2 days early. In spite of being informed earlier that CNY holidays may cause an extended arrival. One thing that surprised me was that the lens was shipped out from the US, and not China.Build qualityThe lens is made from all-metal construction. It felt sturdy in my hands and the 420g weight felt well-balanced when mounted on the camera. You’d notice the that the front-element is pretty big relatively and this is reflected in a large 62mm filter-thread.I like the diamond-engraved focussing ring and the etched distance and apeture marking on the lens.Something I don’t like is the clickless-apeture ring.Picture qualityThis is an initial impression. At minimum focussing distance, the lens exhibit haze at f/0.95. Close down to f/1.4 the sharpness improved substantially. Dehazing and adding texture in Lightroom improved the image at f/0.95. Personally, I like a little haze in my portraits to add character and mood in my photos.LOCA and Chromatic aberration. In all my photos, with the exception to the photo of the down-light, aberration is well controlled. I am happy with this. Purple fringing in distant highlights are very distracting.SharpnessI suspect this lens is designed to be shot in the range of 1.5 - 2.5 m range. The two building photo showed that at mid-distances, the lens is pretty sharp. Infinity focus is not as good. I find this acceptable as I do not shoot long distances with this focal length.Potrait distancesI took the camera out and shot some photos with a friend. I am pleased that at portrait distances, the lens faired very well. The close up photos were detailed. I can see his eye lashes individually. The bokeh balls in the background were not perfectly round but not extremely over in the corners of the frame. Again, we don’t see colour fringing.

Dreamy bokeh, very sharp even wide-open
This lens is remarkable. There are a few things to know up front: you NEED a hood and the depth of field wide-open is microscopic, especially closeups. Amazon sells a 62mm rubber collapsible hood that I bought along with the lens. It has a normal snap cap (much better than the included slip on cap, it is basically worthless). I took the a few test pics in grass up close (see pic) to see what this lens can do. Wide-open, even in the shade the lens renders a dreamy buttery smooth background but what surprised me most is the glow of the highlights. The effect goes away > f/2 but if your exposure control is good this effect is magical. It is also very sharp in the center wide open, I didn't expect that either. All the reviews said it was soft wide open but that isn't so for my copy, it is just very hard to pinpoint focus plane. Overall, I recommend this lens. It is well built, buttery smooth controls (no detent on aperture, my only real complaint because it is so smooth it is easy to accidentally turn it; but you're using a tool, use it right keep a eye on your settings).

A 0.95 aperture lens that is sometimes soft at f8
So I love manual lenses and love night photography, so when I saw a ~75-80 mm equivalent that gets down to F0.95 that's cheap I basically jumped on it. For context I'm coming from the F 0.95 35 mm Brightin Star that I absolutely adore. I've been using this lens on the X-T30ii. While using the lens, though, I noticed that even when using the MF assist highlights on and peaking into the frames and seems to be clear on the EVF when I bring it on to the computer it seems soft, even with still life photos, even at F8. Above are some examples of the soft pictures. The last picture is from the BrightinStar just to provide contrast of the manual focus I'm able to get on that lens in low light.Additionally, within the first days of using the lens there is a grimy sensation on the focus ring and it now starting to get stuck

No box??
Received the lens wrapped in a bag in bubble wrap instead of the actual box? Would have been cool to know this was gonna be the case because where im at currently is in the middle a cold snap and opened the lens to my surprise it was ice cold and covered in condensation. Currently defrosting it and hoping for the best that it doesnt stay wet and mold inside.Lens however did not have any scratches on either side of it so thats nice, 2 stars.
