These bags surpassed my expectations even though I had a good feeling about them from reading other reviews. I brined a 14-lb fresh turkey and not a drop of liquid escaped the double zip locked closures. The bags come with twine and a plastic clip for added closure security, but neither was necessary. It took about 8 quarts of water (including the quart of cooked brine) to completely submerge the turkey. I forced out most of the the air before sealing, but left in a little air at the top so as not to expose the zip locked seals to liquid. The filled bag fit perfectly into a large aluminum roasting pan (with heavy gauge wire handles and bottom support).which I placed on the bottom shelf of my fridge for 24-hrs. Once the turkey is removed from the brine remember to pat it dry and let it air dry for 24-hrs inside your fridge to help the skin crisp when roasting or smoking as I did. The smoked turkey was juicy and delicious and the bags made the prep work easy and worry-free.

Worked fine, and it really will hold a high volume. I brined a 19 pound turkey and the bag was huge for the purpose, which is nice as the added volume allowed room to work with the bird.I place the bag in the roasting pan, then the turkey in the bag and added the liquid to cover it.Tied it up with the provided cord and set the whole pan into my refrigerator. I empty it the next day by placing it into the kitchen sink and cutting a large slice into the bottom of the bag so its easy to let the solution run out into the sink. Since the bags are not for reuse anyway, cutting into it is no issue.

The bag is big enough to wet brine an 18 lb turkey and doesn't leak when upright. Just don't count on turning it over because it will leak no matter how well sealed and tied. Which is why it gets 4 out of 5 stars.
