the beginning or the end?
this is exactly how it was shown to me as the basics of this system with a lil more or less here and there some missing i understand why but was replaced with other knowledge of this system only because of following / studying / working these underground battlefield arts the bujinkan has done it as well..while i feel the bujinkan and the xkans contain the more samurai trained style of ninjutsu the koka banke is the raw taught from the young age only passed too certain people sytem of shinobijutsu the other style of system i feel floating out there still is the total warrior wizard system that could be mistaken for sohei or yamabushi say but then again not many systems were the same to the tee thus the different names for "ninja" in the old daysthe author goes on to explain why there cannot be a true soke of shinobijutsu as it is a transmission and is saved for certain people to become true shinobi there seem to be a few and will prolly never be more than that anymore unless of course the rumours of those not training gaijin are true which after spending time over in se asia in the villages i wouldnt doubt as it truly is a culture you need to see stripped down with out the hype and greedy commercialism.this book gives alot to think about out side the xkans and what antony cummings and his people have exposed i think if you do what the old warriors did learn a little from all you ll eventually get the truth of it in the modern day if you want to be a "ninja" join the modern specialized military or the basic and add to your training as many in the bujinkan or xkans have done with much respect to that way.so in the end i applaud this book and these guys for showing the so called missing pieces of the art in a whole even tho back in the day there were pieces of this taught in the bujinkan...its a tuff process the art truly isnt for everyone no matter whatbut like back in the day of old japan it can be modified to teach anyone ala budo taijutsu or ninpo many wouldnt agree but this is truly the truth there are enuff books and videos out now to prove this if you now where to look to get the full story and to get the training.there are multiple arts brought to light to teach pieces of the old shinobi just keep in mind none of them are truly compete and none them are truly 100% anymore. because of the times and how much time has went by true samurai and ninja no longer exist but as i said said before neither do cowboys but if look hard enuff you will dam sure still find some in the TRUE -not re-enactors- essence of it.great book this closes as many doors as it opens for many. i sit and ponder now how many greedy ego manics see what i wrote are mad. if your above 7-8 th dan you should be ashamed unless you hold menkyo kaiden of some sorts. my reviews arent just on the books in a whole thank you for your time read my reviews. seek what the masters sought.

Excellent book on the way of ShinobiJutsu
Excellent book on the way of ShinobiJutsu!! It uncovers a lot of truths behind popular myths about the Shinobi and what they actually did and were like!! Also explains a lot about training methods from breathing aspects, Shinobi walking skills, body conditioning, mind training, sensory perception training, also much about Bujutsu and many other aspects of the Shinobi!! Very good book!! I enjoyed it!!

DO NOT, I REPEAT, DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS BOOK
I just got this "Book" today and was extremely disappointed. I was hoping to learn something about this school, but this so called book was just one big list of techniques with no real description of anything. The information in the book can be obtained by looking at the Banke Shinobiden website. This book is certainly not worth the money that I paid for it. Hopefully I can save someone else from wasting the $33 that I did making this purchase. This would have been a great opportunity for the author and student of Kawakami Sensei to really introduce this school to the public in an informative way, but unfortunately it missed the mark by a long shot.

If you don't know anything about the Shinobi you will like the book
Most of the information can be found on the Banke Shinobi website, just a list of techniques and general history of the Shinobi. If you don't know anything about the Shinobi you will like the book.

Finally a clear book about the real shinobi - VERY recommendable
The author describes in an easy to understand manner some of the main questions about the ninja. Popular errors and misconcepts about them are explained based on the kuden (oral transmission) transmitted to the author by the 21st heir of the Ban Clan of Koka, Jinichi Kawakami. Is has to be seen as an introductory book to this, until now, not well known school. Seen like this, it is a valuable book to know more about the truth.
