Update! Good, not great, saw
3/27/22: ok, updated to five stars. This saw is awesome and there’s no way around it. Who cares about the oil leak. I think this saw edges out the Milwaukee - it’s just the perfect size I.e. lightweight, small, maneuverable, etc. I used it all day yesterday trimming up trees at my house, and last week we used it taking down a half dozen dead standing for firewood at my friends cabin. One 20V battery charge bucked up all six trees (10” deadstanding lodge pole pines) with a little more charge to spare. I can tell the quality of the saw is going to give it a long lifetime. I really don’t care about the leak; store it on its side, bring a small rag with you, and it’s really not an issue. I already had a 20v battery and so the saw by itself was just a no brainer at this price point. The battery life and maneuverability of this saw is awesome. I can take down a couple trees for firewood while out camping and it does a quick and efficient job, and plenty of battery life. As you may have read from other reviews, it does leak oil. After doing a lot of research about this issue, it kind of is what it is. Oil drips out of this little air chamber on the bottom of the main housing, but you can combat the issue by simply storing it on its side with the air chamber facing up. The oil does not leak while the saw is in use and it takes a little while for the leak to start back up after you’re are done cutting. As someone said on a chainsaw forum I was reading about this particular saw: welcome to the world of chainsaws. And now that I think about it, my Sthil farm boss leaks a little bit of oil all the time, so it’s kind of like eh whatever. All in all, I think it’s worth it - a good price point, awesome battery life, perfect feel in your hands, lightweight, etc. I recommend it. I guess the Milwaukee chainsaw is the best, so probably go buy that if you can afford it, but if you’re budget conscious (and already had a 20v battery like me) then this is a fine saw.

WORTH IT!
Great tool! Perfect size and weight for small to medium jobs. I use this over my gas chainsaw every chance I get. Have cut through 8" logs with no problem. 3amp battery lasts a long time. Chain stays sharp cut after cut after cut. Quick and easy tool-less chain tension adjustment. Uses bar oil quickly, so check every couple dozen cuts. Leaks bar oil, which is the norm I guess. I store in a plastic bin with oil absorbent material on the bottom. Wish the safety release button was accessible from both sides for us ambidextrous types.

Useful tool
This is my first battery powered chainsaw. I went down the dewault max 20v rabbit hole, so continued along with this tool after reading reviews. It is a useful tool, and thoughtfully d3signed. All I’ve owned are maybe a dozen Stihl farm bosses or Stihl commercial sized saws. So, saws with plenty of a$$.Yes, you need to sharpen the saw regularly, like any saw, but especially unreasonable to expect this battery powered tool to cut with a dull chain. The supplied chain skates a little, I may try another chain.I used to break down tops on mature dead and dying red maples when my tree guy was here, and pruning from mature oaks. I used it at the chipper to break down unruly branches. Saved a bunch of money facilitating this tree work, he said it was at least two full days work for him we did in a short day. I could not really use a gas saw, my back is bad from farming, but this little guy made me productive. Without having to deal with gas cans, pull start.I used my existing smaller batteries from my driver, thinking they’d die quickly. Two batteries lasted all afternoon. I guess I’ll get bigger batteries before next season. This saw is dangerous. One needs no skill to get that little meat shredding chain spinning, but as long as people use with respect, shoukd be fine. For instance, my wife cannot start a chainsaw, weed whacker, etc. but she can easily plug this battery in and with luck would find the chainbrake control. But she’s had no chainsaw training, and has no business running this saw. Not that she would, but someone that doesn’t understand the forces on a chainsaw should be very cautious.Yes the Oiler leaks some. I store on absorbent pad. I don’t care and want oil to flow freely, and it leaks very little. But if it is on your bench or another clean surface, it’ll seem like a lot.Pull the cover, blow out the oily chips each day. Keep it sharp. It’s a welcome addition to my shop.

Powerful as gas, without the hassle
Wow, I am impressed. This thing is the equal of a little gas chainsaw but WAY less trouble. I'm really shocked. I have cut and cleared lots of brush up to 4-5 inches and cleared a large branch/tree up to nearly 10" diameter and this thing has performed the same as a gas chainsaw. The chain stays sharp a long time - about the same as any gas model. Bar says Oregon on it I believe. I bought the longer Oregon bar and chain recommended by others but I just haven't needed to use it. I knocked off a star because Dewalt does not offer any case or storage solution to buy. I don't care that is was not included (I got the bare tool) but they don't offer a case or bag at all. I got a 26" Husky toolbox and that fit perfectly, but it is huge and too bulky. I am EXTREMELY happy with the Bostitch 16" open mouth bag (Available here on Amazon BTST516155). It has a hard plastic waterproof base and I made a small slit for the bar to poke through and it's a beautiful thing. Couldn't be happier now. I use this with a 6AH flexvolt battery and it lasts about the same as a tank of gas. Smaller batteries will work fine depending on the size of your jobs. The 60V chainsaw is just too big in my opinion. I held one, and I will use my big 455 Rancher if I need a saw that size. This is a good saw.
