So much fun
The media could not be loaded. I had a cheaper laser and engraver, the program you had to buy for it was not designed for your regular laymen. And you had to buy a cover which never really fit.I decided after a lot of research to go with this one because I heard great things about their customer service support. I’m so glad I did!! Their program is a breeze. But I did have a couple of questions I couldn’t find by google. So I called, and guess what, you talk to a live person. And very knowledgeable. Saved me hours of frustration. The way the cover comes down is a blessing. No more wood smoke in my house. And I pipe the hose out my window.Oh, and it comes already built. The first one I bought I had to build. Doesn’t sound like a good feature until you had to build one. I came to greatly appreciate this.I am still practicing on different wood and what works. But I’m getting better at it.I’ve made some fun gifts, a pop out card of flowers, bookmarks for my book friend, silly ornaments, and D and D miniatures for my son. All this by having my machine for about 2 weeks. There is a feature where you can cut vinyl. I don’t need this feature, I have a machine already that does this. The cons is having to get the air assist and the riser with the honeycomb. It is an added expense which should come with the machine. You will need the air assist, it makes such a big difference. I recently bought the riser so I can’t say if I like it or not.If you are on the fence about which laser to choose, you can’t go wrong with this one.I’m showing a video, the noise is from the air assist, otherwise it is very quiet.

Perfect hybrid for crafters
wow. when it comes to affordability this product is the perfect hybrid cutter/laser that has enabled me to expand my creativity even farther. first, the box arrived and was beautifully packaged, i was inspired just looking at all the pretty projects on the box. haha. I purchased the complete kit so it contained everything I needed to start creating right out of the box. the unit took about 30 minutes from unboxing to startup. and that included my husband cutting me a wooden widow device to hold my exhaust tube in place so I didnt have to hang it out a window. follow the instructions for set up and you will need to install the xtool software on your laptop/desktop, if you are a crafter that uses the cricut type cutting machines youll like that the software is similar to design space therefore you shouldnt fumble around the software. there are community projects that you can download and there are projects on the xtool software so you can create immediately. if you plan on using the RA2 cylindrical unit I would suggest purchasing the riser box as did I. I didnt care for the riser legs that were included in the package and wanted a more enclosed safe space as I do have a curious first grader, best to be safe. but I'll leave that review for the actual product, just mentioning it here. also, if you should have any problems or questions the Xtool company is very happy to help. they reached out to me about a week after purchase to check on how I was doing with the product and addressed any of the questions I had. I strongly recommend this product. easy to use, comes with everything needed to begin creating, great customer service and affordable device.

Frustrating setup but Amazing work!!!
The first time a laser engraver/cutting machine caught my eye, it was the Glowforge. That was about 7+ years ago. I wanted one since then.In the past years I put getting one on hold. Instead I purchased 2 Bambulab 3D printers. Which I've loved. Then I became iffy on getting a laser/cutting machine. The only two that had really caught my eye were Glowforge and XTool. I tabbed those. One day at a family event, my brother inlaw expressed his idea about making earrings with the 3d printer.....I wasn't a huge fan of the idea, and instead randomly brought up how the laser engraving/cutting machine would be a much better option to make his idea. He had never heard of one. I showed him videos and we talked about a pipe dream of how cool it would be to make a business doing that. We had been drinking a little bit and I decided to make the push of purchasing it without hesitation at that moment. Obviously when I woke up, I immediately hit cancel, but it was already processing to ship. So I thought it was meant to be.Fast forward a few weeks later to the 6/14/24. I received the machine a few days after the arrival date, 6/11/24. I was worried about shipping since I live in PR, sometimes I receive no shipping updates until it arrives in the territory. This was one of those cases. I was finally able to set up my machine on Father's day. The machine is nicely packaged. Every single item has been packaged very well with care.-The setup was a little frustrating since it doesn't really come with great instructions. The booklet that it comes with has 5 set of step instructions, the rest of the book is in other languages for setup. After that, you're on your own.-It comes with two blue and two pink craft sheets. The blue one is for paper and the pink one is for fabric.-The triangular tubes are for risers. I haven't really dabbled with those yet.-Setup was easiest through connection to a laptop/pc with the USB plug. You may have to install the correct driver for the M1 if you don't already have it. It's the one that starts with R.-As for the wifi part, I still haven't been able to get it connected through the app.-If you're familiar with bambulab, the app and the installation software that you use, is very much like using bambulab/makerworld, at least in my opinion. That part was a breeze for me and I love it.For a test piece I used one of the small tags. The engraving didn't come out exactly how I wanted it to, it came out more like a very light wood burn.So I decided to do a bigger laser engrave on the 3mm basswood.-For this, I edited a picture of my dog on Pixlr, removing the background.-Then I used a free 14day trial of a cad converting software that I will most likely purchase. On the cad software I grey scaled my dog and then cleaned it up. I then converted it into the proper file.-Then I loaded the file into a new project on XTool and messed with the settings a little. It took 1hr18 mins go engrave my dog. I watched it in awe. Performance was great as well as the quality of the image. The image came out way better than I expected. There wasn't really any bad smell. I had the tube going out a window where I can easily pull it back. I also like the smell of burning wood though. This is my first time using a laser/engraving machine and so far I love it!! I did make my own Instagram called pymlabs, if anyone needs help or wants to exchange tips or advice 😊For installation, the easiest videos and not overly detailed, I found a YouTube channel called the bearded housewife.
