Build quality is excellent. It will last a long time. Sharpening knives is not rocket science but this sharpener could make a butter knife sharp enough to shave with. This is a full kit. You can start sharpening knives immediately after unpacking it.

Very portable for its capability! Upgraded from a kme to this and my capability went from 6 inch blades to 12, possibly more with a longer arm. Made with a much higher level of precision than the kme and more adjustability and more versatility regarding stone holding capabilities.

The abrasive holder does not hold the stone. So, I tried to use the allen wrench supplied to loosen the set screw in the abrasive stop to slide it further down the handle, but the head of the screw is stripped so the allen wrench simply spun in the head of the screw. So, in order to use the tool, I have to use liberal thumb pressure to seat the stone, but this is not effective or smart because the stone slides around and is a hazard because that is what is in between my hand and a really sharp knife ironically... I don't know who to contact to resolve. This is unacceptable for what this tool costs.I still have no way of getting intouch with this seller. They did respond but Amazon removed the email address that they included in their message. It should not be this hard to get this little part. I am willing to pay for the part if I could only get in touch with this seller..

We have quite a few knives around our house that have been in desperate need of sharpening so as soon as I saw this I had to scoop it up! It came very well packed and secured and had all the correct pieces and Hardware that it was supposed to have. There were no missing pieces or parts and everything is in pristine condition. It took little time to get it fully assembled and ready to use. The instructions were clear and easy to read and very helpful for a first time setup. This works extremely well and my husband was easily able to get the knives sharpened with this. You can adjust this all types of different ways and everything works soundly as it should. Definitely feels very heavy duty and not cheaper easily breakable. The design of this is really excellent and it works perfectly as intended. This matches up perfectly with the ad even down to the measurements so this fit perfectly in the spot we had for it in my husband's workshop. Definitely a great quality product and a solid 10 out of 10! Worth every penny and quality alone! We have not had any issues thus far and everything works freely as it should!

I have owned the cadet about 1 year now. First of all this isn't a fast or cheap sharpener, once you outfit yourself with some different style of diamond stones other accessories you can get the price way past $800. I have added 5 of the Edge Pro diamond impregnated plates, that was a big extra expense but I really enjoy how well they cut & I rarely have to flatten them, they will last me many many years of sharpening. I also bought thr platform platten to sharpen plane & chisels. The included diamond plates are good & I even purchased a 2nd set but after about 50 knife sharpenings it was much slower to sharpen & finish a blade, performance dropped off. I use a dish soap/water solution to lube all my diamond plates & scrub each plate after a knife sharpening. Metal machining quality on the Cadet is first class with very tight machining tolerances, packaging is very good, it's user friendly, great repeatability & I love it's portability. There is always room to tweak this sharpener & the newest cadet has a minor tweaking I see.When I visit family out of state I pack it in a small plastic lid container & I sharpen their knives, they are amazed how good the outcome is. Yes, I would buy this product again no questions asked. It's a nice mid grade sharpening system that I would recommend to any new sharpening enthusiasts.
