KA-BAR Bk18bk Becker Black Harpoon, Plastic

Yes Iam writing a kitchen knife review. First I’ll preface that the BK19 is a great do all knife with a versatile sheath with great retention that can be mounted several ways and after carrying it as a primary knife I tried it as replacement kitchen knife. The BK19 is a little large for a cleaning/ skinning knife in tight spots but I chose to buy a new one as a dedicated kitchen knife after using it for a myriad of tasks and love it but added the BK2 with its wider spine and heft as my new kitchen cleaver. The BK2 is better for separating joints, cutting through bone, and spitting vertebra. Aside from the BK2 strengths if I had to pick just one knife I would choose the BK19 it’s a little large for an EDC or parting out small game but it’s very manageable not to heavy yet very durable.

Kill A Bear (Ka-Bar) nailed this one. Excellent size and balance, the sheath works perfect. One nit is I wished they made it so you can remove (without cutting) the belt loo[ so you can add your own belt clip/whatever. The handles are fine. I did replace the first pair on my tan one but after use found it was not a big deal, nothing wrong with the handles unless you have small hands with sausage fingers, then maybe might need a little more grip.

An amazing, specialty purpose blade.

I like Becker/Ka-bar knives, and the Harpoon is a nice knife. I wish it had the Kraton nonslip polymer handles like the modern Ka-bar, but otherwise, it's great. Good balance and blade profile which should have many use cases.

Fantastic knife. Love the look of the harpoon. I haven’t really used it except to cut up cardboard. Just a quality knife at a great price. I don’t feel like I’m overpaying.
