There is a slight wood smell, which is to be expected. It is a wood box. Well-made and a good size for a decent lunch and snacks. I recommend using parchment paper to line it to keep it cleaner when used.

The media could not be loaded. Personally I’ve really enjoyed using this bento box! It’s the right size for a hearty lunch and I’m able to fit sweet and savory things in the different layers for a nice variety of flavors. The only problem is that the included spork is garbage. The wood between the tines wasn’t sanded down and there would be literal splinters in your food if you dared to eat with it, which makes me question the over all quality of the bento box too. The little wooden divider also isn’t very useful either since it moves around too easily.

When I first received it I thought it was just one box but then I realized once you open it you can assemble it so that it’s a double layer bento box. I accidentally gave them the wrong feedback 😭, sorry about that. It’s really cute, no foul smell or anything. Comes with a wooden fork/spoon, a rubberband and a mini divider for the smaller box. I think this is a good price compared to the other ones since you get two!

I gifted this Bento Box to a friend who loves everything Japanese. We both like that it is made with no added varnish or coloring. It's just natural bamboo. She loves it for packing lunch and snacks.
