Simple and gets the job done
Needed an extender that has the grounded shield, to work in tandem with inline ethernet surge protectors and a shielded outdoor Cat6 run. The surge protectors were a little too bulky to plug directly into my switches. These worked perfectly.

Fixed a Wobble
I have a ham radio which has a removable control head, which is connected to the body of the radio by a CAT5 cable with an RJ45 plug. The control head began chopping in and out of service. It turned out that the RJ45 socket in the radio had become worn and the cable would not hold the connectors in line properly. The end of this device is a bit "fatter" than the end of the cable I was using, and fit perfectly in the worn socket. Connects like new! This saved me from an expensive repair or having to buy a new radio. Great fix!

...i saw this on a radio forum...
...and found out it works perfectly as an extension cable for the microphone on my Yaesu FT-891 radio...this will enable me to place it in a "go" box without damaging the connection into the radio!

Ham radio application
Use this to bring the mic connection out on a Yaesu FT891. No need to remove front control head to switch microphones.

Not for side by side socket applications
These are nice cables and work great, However, the insulation on the strain relief surrounding the plug is too wide to work on side by side sockets. For example, the back of a router as shown in the second picture. These cables are just too wide to be inserted into these sockets. I ended up having to trim off the rubber on both sides of the plugs where there was an adjacent socket. See the first picture. Luckily these cables will not be subjected to much movement so the loss of strain relief will not be an issue in my application.
