Better than the original parts

Great hinges. Make sure to grind off back side paint as well prior to welding. I used these on some gates and they work perfectly. I'd add a photo if amazon didnt ask permission to all my files.

Nice product, simple yet sturdy design with a single ball bearing and a grease fitting. The reason for not giving it 5 stars is the weldable plates were not consistently welded to the barrel parallel to the hinge pivot line. In my application the side of the plate, not the flat, was welded to the frames and it was disappointing to discover some of the plates were welded at different angles and would throw off the hinge angles without a bit of prep. Some were fine, some were visibly off. By and large they did the job fine with a bit of extra unplanned prep.

Used these for both gates I built. Arrived in great shape. I had zero problems with zerks, everything was straight, and black coating was perfect on both sets.A real fatso can stand on the gate and the hinges just don’t care.

The original barrel hinges on my utility trailer had one that seized. No amount of heating and smashing it with a hammer would convince it to move again. I replaced both of the smaller stock hinges with these monsters. They were easy to weld, and move smoothly. My golf cart weighs about 900 lbs, and I'm just under 200. There's no worries of these failing. Zero hinge flexing when driving on the ramp.I put both hinges in the same orientation. I can slide the ramp sideways to remove it if needed. But when in the stowed position, the ramp can't move sideways. The original configuration had the hinges mirrored, which prevent removal of the tall ramp. Limited the usability of the trailer.

These are my go-to hinges for installing Gates big or small. These can handle gigantic cantilevered Gates like you find at car lots and commercial facilities, and huge ornamental Gates that you find in luxury homes. At Wheat State welding LLC in Derby Kansas I stock these and customers absolutely love them because they have a ball bearing in them and are easy to maintain if you shoot a little bit of grease in them once every year or two. These hinges will definitely Outlast the purchaser!

People complaining about the painted finish etc I don't understand because you have to weld these on thus paint afterwards anyway. They do the job, be sure you are welding them on parallel and true or your gate will bind on opening. Also be careful as the little ball bearings like to fall out when you weld and the grease gets hot.

Arrived on time, ... product was as advertised. Spare ball bearings included ... nice addition. These are machined to tight tolerances, so perfect alignment is required for absolute smooth operation through the travel. Welded in place, primed, painted, greased, .... and walked away very happy ! Note: I mounted mine with the ball bearing up so as to keep water from entering the grease cavity.
