Excellent price point and high quality. It has a pleasant taste so need not be encapsulated. I initially got a sample as part of a promotional program from Bulk Supplements. However, my review was not influenced by that fact.Rehmannia stimulates the secretion of erythropoietin by the kidney that in turn stimulates red blood cell production in the bone marrow. Low levels are constantly secreted by the kidneys to compensate for normal red blood cell turnover. Thusly, Rhemannia helps to normalize red blood cell (ethrocyte) levels should levels drop too low causing anemia.

I bought this for my 15+ year old cat with uncontrolled diabetes, abnormal kidney values on a blood panel, and was getting anemic. I can't say for a fact how much this one addition has contributed (he does also get insulin), but he has gotten much better on all counts and I feel like it's helping him. I've started giving it to my other older cat (17 y.o.) as well. She has hyperthyroidism and allergies. She's only been taking it <1 month. I give them ~1/16 tsp with each of their 2 main meals. My husband and I have also started putting it in our coffee. It has a nice roasted-sweet flavor. I will buy again when I run out.

This tastes exactly like echinacea with a little cinnamon thrown in. I have never purchased an actual rehmannia root, so maybe this powder is legitimate. I'm taking it because a study showed improvement with chronic inflammation. Haven't noticed a difference yet, but I've only been on it two weeks. I gave it 3 stars to give it the benefit of the doubt, but the flavor sure has me wondering whether this is actually the rehmannia I purchased or a blend of cheaper herbs. If it is echanacea, it is an immune stimulator instead of an immune suppressant, which is just the opposite effect a person with autoimmune inflammation needs.

I purchased this product along with several other herbs to help increase red blood cells, being that I have Sickle Cell Anemia. It's too soon to tell if it's effective, but I have experienced less complications. I'll know if it's working with upcoming blood tests. It's a little sticky, because of it's natural contents and it tastes fairly good.Update: I never want to be without this product. It has reduced my pain levels dramatically. I also find it to be a great blood tonic (rebuilder) with significant anti-inflammatory properties.
