Fun and Festive Expansion
This is a fun and festive expansion for King of Tokyo that includes two new Halloween characters. There is also a new mechanic for “costumes” that your monster can “wear”. These costumes give the monsters unique abilities and an additional edge during gameplay. Each new character also includes evolution cards to play with the “Power Up” expansion (if you have it). There is also a set of orange dice which is nice to have so we don’t have to pass the dice along so much.

Keep a good thing going
Out family loves this game, and the expansion gave it new interest and life. Great fun.

Good addition to base game
If you’re looking to mix up the base game with just a little something fresh, this is perfect. I could see this being a permanent fixture for when I take this game out. Also, the expansion probably takes like 2 extra minutes of rules explanation. Adds some nice asymmetry to each player as they progress down the track without letting someone just run away to an easy victory.

Fun to add to the monster box
I love the monster box and I like adding this with power up. Makes for more explosive and dynamic gameplay.Probably better to just stick with one or the other but it's fun to use both.

Love what it adds, sadly it is not enough
I like this game, I really do. Kaiju monsters and super creatures are awesome, the core idea of battling it out to be ruler of Tokyo and the strongest monster left standing is appealing and calls to me thematically. The game just doesn't deliver everything I need, for me it just plays too fast and many parts of the game just never come into play.Moving on to what this expansion adds though, it does a good job of delivering some fun additions. The Pandakai character looks good and the true important part of the expansion, the power-ups, deliver a nice twist to add to your games. Each of your battling monsters now have their own special powers to use during the game. These power-ups I think almost completely replace the often unused energy cards from the base game. So is this a good thing or bad thing? I always felt the base game and the energy cards just never worked out, it's one of my complaints with the game itself. So for this expansion to come up with an easier way to use "powers" is great, the expansion checks off the box for fulfilling that need. Here is where once again it fails to deliver for me. The powers, as fun as they are, just won't get used very much. You'll maybe get the chance to use one or two of them. Yes, you could certainly change the way you play and push your luck with your die rolls to constantly try to trigger your powers, while you're doing that though someone else will likely just cap out on victory points and end everything.I know King of Tokyo is supposed to be a fast game, so I cannot fault it or the expansion for delivering on that. Personally, I cannot get past how much content and mechanics are available in this game but never get used. The powers are so fun and offer up so many neat combinations, but the game as a whole plays too fast for you to really enjoy them.If you are unlike me and love King of Tokyo for what it is, get this expansion. If you're reading this review you almost certainly do already like the base game so you will add some great content for the price.Have fun ruling over Tokyo! Go Cyber Kitty!
