Decent cage
So it came in one big box. Lots of pieces. It took two of us about 2 1/2 hours to put it together, probably would have been shorter if we didn't get interrupted with phone calls. I was concerned about how difficult it would be bc one review the guy said it took him 6 hours.... So, to me, it's seems fairly sturdy when put together. Not great, but it's plastic. The water system I'm not crazy about. We had to take the nipples off, slide the bar through, and slide the cup things on as the bar passed through each section of the cage. Bc the cups don't clip on like they are supposed to. So that will probablyget changed eventually. It looks easy to clean. I personally don't think it's worth what they charge. I would not buy it again. I do like it, but I'd buy a metal one next time if the price is still the same. I just needed something within the week, not 6+ weeks out. So it gets 5 stars for being what it says it is.

Lots of Small Flaws
The Hatching Time ABS Plastic quail cage has a price sticker on it of about $600, putting them ahead of other leading quail cage manufacturers, and well and above what you'd pay to DIY one. I wanted something that was a lot easier to clean than my DIY wooden cage, and the ABS seemed appealing. For the price point, though, it needs to be PERFECT -- I'm not paying Maserati price for a Yugo. Unfortunately, the cage falls flat on a number of points, and never makes it to even mediocre.Assembly for it is fiddly. The instructions are severely lacking at all, and a lot of counter intuitive parts are found throughout. For instance, the legs on it go on the exact opposite way I would assume -- with the nice, finished side on the INSIDE, and the hollow core facing out. Worse, they use plastic anchors that twist together... and if you do it wrong, you can't undo them! The plastic dishes that catch drips from the waterers require a soak in hot water or a quick blasting with a heat gun -- they do not snap on. There are two different styles of "sides," one for the internal walls and one for the external, and the directions don't mention this. The waterer pipes don't quite fit through the holes for them, and have to be whacked with a mallet to have any chance. I'm still not clear whether the arrows go on the outside or inside, but as long as you're consistent, the thing goes together. The list of little instructional / assembly issues goes on and on. The instructions are a single double sided page, with no written instructions, and this thing needs more details. The plastic top and bottom part on mine were unsanded, with razor sharp edges. I picked it up and wound up with a cut on my finger -- I ran the dremel over it and fixed that, but all of the edges were sharp! The tubes that connect the waterer levels aren't the right length, and you have to cut them -- some are off by as little as a half inch (but that'll kink it), which is REALLY hard to trim. I'm also not sure why the bottom one doesn't have a 90 elbow on it instead of a T connector. The plug for the tubing is the wrong size, and you have to REALLY heat the tubing to get it into it. Mine leaked, as did the bulkhead for the water container. I'll have to replace this with something appropriate. The pans that catch manure arrived warped -- I'm planning on replacing them anyhow.Overall, there are several nagging design flaws that could be easily fixed. The bottom layer is simply too low -- like 6" off the ground! The pans don't have anything to hold them in place, and if they're off, the upper layer will poo on the lower layers' heads. Gross. If thats not gross enough, the pans don't extend all the way out, and if quail poo facing the front, their waste will land on the food for the quail beneath them!!! I'm also deeply concerned about predators in this cage design -- it seems very open to anything that wants to eat a quail. I'm also not sure why they're using flexible tubing at all -- solid PVC would be easier, and they could easily ship the correct lengths. That won't kink.Overall, there's a lot of room for improvement in both the cage design and especially the assembly instructions. As one of the most expensive quail cage options out there, they simply need to do better.

The most brilliantly designed system EVER.
It was incredibly painful to cough up the money to buy the 4 level quail system. I'm relatively poor and I rely on eggs for the majority of my diet. I'm also a complete idiot when it comes to assembling anything. I had to borrow a friend's electric screw driver and it took me two days to assemble because the first time I did it wrong and I had to tear it back down and start back at square one but all that was so worth it. Every single feature is brilliantly designed. Imagine having birds that can't poop in their food and water anymore...no shavings in food or water....clean flooring upon which to walk on....clean manure that falls in trays that can be taken right out to your garden...free of shavings....perfect visibility so they can see each other...super clean system...not a speck of feed or manure has fallen onto my floor....my quail are very happy and quiet in their new condo. I have it by a big window so they can watch the chickens in their outside run just a few feet away...all the stimulation without the risk of predators. This is simply the PERFECT system...so well made and thought out...absolutely ingenious. I watched a youtube video for instructions.....I absolutely LOVE this system and company. Customer service answered my questions cordially and quickly. Buy it....you can always resell when you move on...this is one of the most important things you can have to assure you have food/eggs going into our uncertain future. Thank you HatchingTime!

I am on day 7 of assembly
Cages come bent and holes don’t align. Atleast two days to put this thing together. Directions come with a total of 6 pictures. So I had to undo it over and over on top of fighting the thing to snap together. Honestly, it would have been easier and cheaper just to build my own. Not happy with this assembly time. Update**** it is day 7 of trying to put this thing together it just doesn’t fit. I want my money back and they can come pick up this price of crap

Lack of instructions
The quail cage is really good but the instructions to setting it was a disaster. Many pieces to assembly and just a picture with no explanation whatsoever. cage was finished in two days 6 hours every day to complete. parts were put incorrectly due to the lack of instructions.

Quail
I found it was hard to put together but with my son we were able to put it together. Build quality is great. Looks great. I can see many years of use to breed quails. Check out their youtube.

Best purchase ever!
I can't say enough about this cage. The initial investment is very worth it. The time it saves in cleaning and maintaining healthy birds, long term, is worth every penny.
