… as long as you only etch the entire image at once. If the laser jumps around a lot, or if the resolution is too high, it creates problems..It doesn’t handle .01mm row widths very well. The cogs seem to have a “tick” position, like the second hand on a clock.. So if the resolution is too high, results can come out very strange - like it wasn’t precise enough to move .01mm.That said, .01mm rows aren’t really necessary for 99% of etchings.. And most laser cutters can’t even do it at all, technically.So given that, this is a pretty great product. It just isn’t great for 600+ dpi (in most cases)

I bought this as a toy to play with my Sculpfun 6SPro laser machine. It connects quickly and was easy to get started. Make sure when you set it up that the motor is to your left side of the work surface, if not, it prints backwards. I really have nothing to complain about, only I wish they would have come up with something to hold the cup or project level when it is tapered. I was working with a cup that is tapered and without a way to keep the printing surface flat the laser does not work well. I am working on a solution and will update when I figure it out.

This is a great device for anything that is cylindrical, but if it isn't perfectly cylindrical, you can't engrave it. What it needs is an adjustable end set of rollers so that you could engrave a glass or metal mug that had axial symmetry, but wasn't cylindrical. Many cheaper roller systems have such ability, but what they're missing and this device has is the excellent adjustability in the spacing of the rollers. I bought a separate LONGER rotary roller lifting frame, and that works, but it is a bit difficult to anchor securely. The newly released SCULPFUN lathe device fixes this problem as well, but it costs about $250, and so may be too expensive for most. By the way, I originally ordered it from Amazon, but returned it when I found that I could get it for $60 less ($79.99) directly from the SCULPFUN website.

wouldnt work with my machine

Probably would work fine for perfectly round objects with out handles but are a little difficult to use with “Stanley” style mugs.Recommend getting the type that clamps from the inside instead.

I used once to try to etch a glass bottle for about 5-10 seconds and realized I must have a setting wrong. Went back two days later and the motor just vibrates and doesn’t turn the gear. I unhooked everything and plugged back in, and removed any tension on the belt with the same outcome. I would recommend spending a little more money on a quality one.
