UPDATING REVIEW 1 to 5 starts! It worked great…for 40 days
The media could not be loaded. I am editing my original review to say that I reached out to the seller through Amazon on 8/6. They responded with in a few hours. They offered suggestions on how to troubleshoot the issue (see original review- I already did that), but also offered a replacement OR a full refund. Because I love these fountains, I requested a replacement. It was delivered in 2 days - included a picture of the replacement. So, moral of the review? If your fountain stops working as quickly as mine did, reach out to the seller.I also made a note to check on how long the fountain ran after the sun was no longer shining on the solar panel the day after I put it up- it ran for almost three hours.Original review:I have the 6.5W version of this solar fountain in my backyard DIY fountain, but didn’t need that much force to pump the water so I opted to try the 5.5W for my front yard fountain. I ordered and received it June 27th. Today is August 6th and the fountain was not working this morning. I thought perhaps there wasn’t enough water, even though I check it every few days. There was water. I checked the connections and those were fine. Checked the pump and it wasn’t clogged, but I cleaned it anyway. Since I have the 6.5W fountain, I tested both the pump and the solar panel on that fountain set up. The solar panel ran the other pump, but this pump would not run when connected to the 6.5W solar panel, so that tells me the pump went bad. Since my return window closed July 27th - 10 days ago, I have reached out to the seller to see if they will provide me with a new pump, or even the option to purchase one. If so, I will update my rating. I really do enjoy these fountains, and would rate them 5 stars. Up until today, both worked very well and run for at least two hours after the sun set. I have the solar panels facing south so that they get as much sun as possible during the day. My 6.5W fountain was purchased before this one and (knock on wood) is doing just fine. I’m sad that I got only 40 days out of the second pump.

Water pumps have failed 50% of the time.
There are lot of commendable features about this pump. When you unpack the unit, you'll be struck by the impressive build quality of the solar panel. Also, the power cord is quite lengthy so you can position the panel some distance from your water feature. The pump itself has a variety of spray pattern options, and will produce an impressive amount of pressure (for solar).HOWEVER - we bought one, liked it so much we bought two more. With the third unit, the pump didn't work out of the box, so they sent us a replacement. The replacement pump lasted for about three days. It could be they send the factory rejects out as replacements hoping they'll work the second time around?Regardless - I can't recommend a product like this with such a high failure rate. There are better solutions out there. It's a shame, otherwise it's a nice unit. Of course, without a working pump, it's a nice paperweight.

Perfect for shallow birdbaths!
I have a shallow ceramic birdbath and I couldn’t find a solar powered fountain that was thin enough. I finally found one here! It’s just small enough to work on the deepest part which is like 1 1/2-2 inches deep. I just have to keep an eye and make sure I fill with water on hot days. There’s many different fountain sprayers to change the water flow but I went with just the longer spout with no topper since the others were spraying water out of my fountain. It worked out of the box as soon as the solar panel hit sunshine and has been working ever since. Of course it doesn’t work all night but it does work a few hours after sunset. It is as described and works perfectly for me!

The birds love it
The media could not be loaded. This is my 2nd one of these mainly because the first one ran continuously for 4 seasons and that's pretty good for one of these things. And the birds seem to be more attracted to the bath and watering whenever its on. When the water level drops too low it will turn itself off so it won't run dry and burn up. That has happened with other pumps I've owned. For cleaning, this one comes apart easily and goes back together just as easy. I do listen to my backyard birds and they tell me,"keep the water level up and the pump running and we'll see you tomorrow!"

Solar Panel Is Good Quality and the Pump Moves A Lot of Water!
The media could not be loaded. I was impatient and wanted to test out the pump before I finalized the design for this fountain/bird bath, so I used a deeper bowl that's 9 3/4" across and I have an overturned container inside the bowl that's holding the pump and rocks for the birds to stand on while they bathe. Since it does have some power, I'll put it into the bigger pot with a wide lip so the birds can stand on the lip or the plate while they bathe, and so the water doesn't splash out of the fountain. I've used food safe silicone caulk to hold together the plastic structure that will go into the deeper ceramic pot. I have a wide bowl but I'm in north Texas and that deeper reservoir will help to keep it from running dry. The solar panel is in partial sun in the first pic and full shade in the second and the short video. The pump is running really well. The solar panel seems to be well made and doesn't feel or look cheap, it's solid, not flimsy. I want to get a stake to hold up that panel and hide the cable connecting the solar panel and the pump. I'm really pleased with the performance of this little setup. I could see putting this in a small pond or just a bigger water feature container, like a half whisky barrel. Or just a nice looking ceramic pot. There is a lot of room for creativity with this set. I'll update this review in a couple of weeks when I do the final build with the larger container.
