The backpack is easy to carry and can be adapted to fit the situation. I would take it trekking in the mountains, but I would take it everywhere else. It looks great too and doesn’t shout out “I am a pro camera bag”

Perfect Choice
After a lot of research, my two contenders were Gomatic PM and Peak Design Travel BP more or less same price, (I have to add that I own the Lowepro 450 that I sold), To me Gomatick PM is the best already tested in a long trip, carring my Canon RF 28-70 (a monster), RF 15-35, canon R6 and other accesorios (filters, chargers, Hard drives, memory cards, laptop, Ipad, tripod, etc) , was heavy but confortable, was walking around all day long wiht this BP and no complains, access and customisation perfect, level of protection very high. Something to keep in mind I also bougth a camera cube pack which is fanstastic if you need just carry your camera and lense as complement of the gomatic BP, leaving at the hotel the rest of the equipment.Aesthetic is what I like it no more no less.Final thought if you have the money this is the right choice, otherwise Lowepro 450 is a really good choice and serve very well the pourpose. ( I have used 450 for more than a year).

Heavy bag, not great for travelling
I have 4 bags, Shimoda Explore v1, Lowepro Flipside 400 II, Peak Design Travel 45l, and this Gomatic 35L bag. This bag is big, heavy and expensive. I think it’s too heavy for its purpose as a travel bag. It has really thick padding on the shoulder straps, but this makes them really hard and inflexible, and I find them to be surprisingly uncomfortable. The interior is a horrible brown colour - but I could live with it. As some other reviews have mentioned, the zips do get stuck. The primary issues I have with this bag is the camera compartment itself. There is a side access panel - but due to its size, I found it impractical to use. This is because the dividers use velcro and interfere with the side panel opening. You can reconfigure the dividers to be able to use this, but that actually wastes a lot of space, and my Nikon z7 just about fits into it. The interior is also not flat, it’s concave towards the centre, so nothing sits perfectly flat. The dividers also have a lot of padding which takes up space - I find that despite having such a spacious interior, a lot of the space ends up wasted. The Peak Design ones are much thinner, and the Shimoda ones are even thinner than that. And I have never had a problem with those not providing enough protection. The other issue is that there are not enough smaller dividers to allow you to better utilise the space. While the small dividers do look good - the side with the pirate logo has no velcro, which further makes it difficult to customise this bag. Other companies dividers now tend to fold in creative ways, allowing you add smaller items, etc - but none of those features are present here. In the main product picture for this bag, you will see the camera perfectly setup for allowing side access - but you will find that you cannot easily open that side panel, because the 2 dividers are connected to that side panel flap.I have included three photos - one showing how I might lay this bag out using the included dividers from the bag. The other two showing how much more efficient you could pack this bag, if it had better dividers. The same components are included in both images - but you can see how much more space you gain. In this example I am using the smedium camera cube from Peak Design. If you do have your mind set on this bag, I think these packing cubes would work well, either the smedium or the medium cubes. This could give some additional storage space in the top of the bag, and allow you to open it without anyone seeing exactly what gear you have in the bag.The other storage on the bag is good - though I would have preferred an additional water bottle/tripod holder in place of the useless side access. The front of the bag has a useful little storage area for passports, etc - however its actually difficult to open this, when you unzip it, the bottom flaps seems to go under the top flap, making it hard to open - its odd, I have never found such a difficult to open flap on a bag. This could be a good camera bag for some, but for myself, I don’t think it’s a good travel bag, which is what I am looking for. I find the Peak Design Travel 45l to be better for this purpose. It allows me to reconfigure the bag far quicker, due to using the camera cubes.I find the Lowepro bag to be perfect for just carrying camera gear with a variety of lenses, it is compact, comfortable and allows you to pack a lot of gear into it. The Shimoda is great if you are going to be hiking or carrying heavy loads - that bag has the best comfort, but its also the bag I am least likely to take when travelling - the design of that bag means it’s not great for carrying other items, eg clothing. I think the Peak Design is best for my purpose of travelling - I can carry extra items in the bag while travelling to my destination, and then easily reconfigure it to suit my needs on the day. I do travel with young kids, so I need space for non camera gear. As I am using the smedium camera cube, I can even rotate the cube and carry my travel tripod inside the bag, if I wanted to.
