Q: What is the plastic sleeve for? It doesn't fit over the battery holder in my LE2000.

The plastic sleeve is used for 18650 battery that is a rechargable battery!

I'd try removing batteries, making sure compartment clean before replacing, in effect " rebooting". I forgot I had this and will go looking for it lol!! Best of luck.
