Weighing my cooking ingredients

I liked this so much I bought a second exactly the same for my motor home. I’ve checked the accuracy and both are spot on.

The scales arrived safely, and they come packed in a nicely illustrated retail box. They are powered using 3x AAA batteries which were included. The scales are made in China.Ive been disappointed with the quality of the last couple of Salter products, but the overall quality of these scales is pretty good as they seem well made, they are quite weighty, the plastic body feels durable, the buttons feel nice to use, and the display is bright and easy to read from any angle.The scales are a decent size, small enough that they don’t take up much room yet still big enough to hold a good-sized mixing bowl. It has four rubber feet on the base as well as a mounting hole so you can hang it on the wall.A quick press of the power button and the scales switch on and are ready to use in about 3 seconds. You can switch between four different measuring units: fluids ounces, grams, pound ounces, and millilitres. Once you have finished with the scales you can hold down the power button to turn them off or the scales will automatically turn off after about 30 seconds.The scales can be zeroed by pressing the power button when they are turned on and it’s a useful feature if you are weighing multiple ingredients into the same bowl. Ive tested the accuracy by using a 1kg weight and the scales were pretty much bang on.Overall, while I feel the quality of Salter products have diminished over the years these scales are smart looking and good quality, and at less than £20 I feel they represent good value for money for what you are getting. It’s a product I’m happy to recommend and I feel these scales are worth the full five stars, buy with confidence!

These scales are temperamental. The weight often greatly when nothing is being added to the scale. I had brought these to replace previous salter scales that done the same.

These come with batteries and instructions.The full size of these is about 16x23cm which is quite large for kitchen scales. The readable size is about 16x20cm, i.e. you can still see the reading at this size. So although these are larger than my old scales this is definitely a good thing as mixing bowls etc can sit on top and I can still easily read the weight.I tested these against known weights and my old scales and they are accurate within a gram or 2, certainly good enough for kitchen scales.One big bonus of these is that they use standard AAA batteries and not button cells. These should mean they need changing much less often and I will definitely have some replacements in the house.At under £20 at time of review I consider these good value for the quality.
