Does what it was made to do.
Worked fine for building a Resin printing UV Snake light. I do wish the light I bought to go with it (from another seller) was more powerful. If I need more, I'll likely use the same again

This is definetly end glow.
This is definetly end glow, which is exactly what I needed. I needed to pipe the light from a remote LED indicator light outside a box.I suppose you could make it side glow by roughening up a side with sandpaper. I didn't need (or want) to do this.

It IS Sideglow....
I just got this in, it IS side glow unlike some reviews, you just have to use a bright enough led. It will also work great as fiber optic because it is definitely brighter on the end. Great value and size. Light source used in photo was from a Milwaukee head lamp.

End Glow
I purchased the 3mm optic to transmit the LED from the golf cart charger under the seat to the charge port. It's a bit smaller than I would like, but 3mm is the largest they had. It does work since the mounting plate of the charge port is black, the red or green is easy enough to see.I took off 2 starts because the customer support is terrible. I needed to know the minimum bend radius of this optic because I had to route it from one side of the battery compartment to the other side in the front where the charging port is. I asked them 2 times, and both times they said "The engineers don't have that information". I suggested that they just take a piece, curl it up as tight as possible (without damaging it) and measure the diameter. The radius would simply be 1/2 of the diameter.But NOOOO. They couldn't do that.It took me all of 20 seconds to measure the bend radius to be about 3/8". I hope this information helps someone with the same question.

Good Fiber. Works Very Well.
I had my doubts, but this stuff really works! I used this product to make an indicator light for a bluetooth receiver. The bluetooth device has a tiny blue LED on the circuit board that is illuminated when the device is on. I drilled a hole in the mount plate and then glued this fiber in place. Now I have a strong blue light on the mount plate to tell me when my bluetooth device is on. The fiber is easy to use and I believe a good value for the money.

It Works
Cut a portion of this item into 4" pieces ....taped together....and fashioned a through-wall peephole indicator for heat light inside of pump house. Now, I don't have to lift the whole 100+ lb roof just to see if light is still working.
