ICOM SM-50 DESK MICROPHONE

This is a good addition to my ham shack. I use it with my IC-7300.

This is a really nice mic. I have tried a few others out there and the Icom mic is worth its cost.

This mic only had 3 1/2 stars out of 5 at the time of purchase. Im not sure what’s wrong with those 2 bad reviewers setup. Icom has always been known for quality and this is no exception.This is a very well made precision microphone that just screams quality out of the box. I was surprised of the weight of this. the gain was all the way open already on the bottom of the mic. I plugged it into my Icom 7300, the radio stayed keyed up for some reason until I unplugged and replugged it in again. I have no idea what caused that to happen. I too, was worried I had a bad one.With the help of some locals, I got my radio sounding good by having both gains wide open, the gain on the radio AND the mic, but the treble and bass in the radio settings up to +4. They all told me I sounded like I was sitting in their living rooms. This is on the AM band.The buttons are very sleek and the press in feels like icom quality. Not like those cheaper CB mics that I’ve used for so many years. The leap from CB radio to HAM is like night and day as far as the quality of the radios and peripherals go. There is nice “weight” to it. Solid, it don’t slide around on my desk.This mic compliments my Icom 7300, and I am very happy and satisfied with my purchase. Especially since it’s $80 less here on Amazon than anywhere else. I can sit 2 feet away and they all say I’m still clear.73”sEditSeveral months later this mic rocks. . have had the Icom SM 50 microphone for about 6 weeks and have spoken to several European, Australian, Caribbean Islands and US cities all over. The results with this microphone have been very satisfactory regarding clarity, tone and loudness. Some of the people I speak to regularly have said that the microphone delivers a studio quality sound. I am pleased with my purchase. The microphone is connected to an Icom 7300 radio which transmits through a 3 element V quad antenna.
