Snark ST-8 Tuner 2-Pack (Enhanced SN-8)

I'm a professional string player (banjo, guitar, dobro) and have used about every generation of digital tuner as they have arrived on the market. I've had a number of clip-on style tuners over the years, and the Snark tuners have been the best of what I've used, though they aren't perfect. They tear through batteries, aren't bright enough to see on a sunny day on stage, and seem to lose their sensitivity over time, requiring a sharp finger snap to get them to wake up sometimes. But this newest version (ST-8) is a major leap forward. I can't yet attest to the battery life, but the display is much easier to see in different lighting situations, and the tuner responds instantly, and accurately. The clip is stronger and holds on tighter to the instruments' peg heads, which makes for a better connection. The display is much more concise graphically- no more fluttering tiny little bars- it's much easier to read than in the past. The tuner has a more solid feel overall- I'm really impressed!

I'm a multi-instrumentalist and I love Snark tuners for all my strings. I got my first snark tuner 9 years ago, and I won't buy any other brand. They've worked well for years, as long as you take care of your things. I have at least one in each of my gig bags, and it's the only tuner I can 100% stand behind for my students. These tuners are really worth every penny.

I recommend Snark tuners to anyone playing nearly any stringed instrument. these are not the first ones I've used, and will not be the last. They are fast, easy, accurate, and priced right. I keep one in every instrument case I have. The weak points are the pivot and clamps, but treated gently they are plenty tough enough for regular use for years. I do recommend taking them off the instrument when not in use as leaving it clipped on something while stored can cause the clamp to crack and break in a shorter time than it would otherwise.I removed a star from my rating only because the ad incorrectly states that the ST-8 has a built-in metronome. I did receive the model listed, but nowhere in its documentation does it list a metronome feature, nor have I been able to make one activate. I don't really need this feature, so I am still very satisfied with my purchase I just wanted others to know.

These things are great. You need to have several of these at the ready if you own multiple guitars. The new "super tight" ones are even better than the original. Now that they are rechargeable, they are excellent. No need to replace the "wafer" batteries ever again. Love it....
