Put the stamp in the cutter BEFORE cutting a cookie
I have never used cookie stamps before, and these have been a breeze. They work excellent, even though I'm putting them up to the real challenge of working with gluten-free, egg-free dough! The stamps come out so nice and clear. I was really surprised to see people saying they weren't working well. Place the stamp inside the white cutter with the design you want to use facing toward the thin cutting edge of the white cutter. Then, press the white cutter into your dough like a normal cooking cutter. Without picking up the white cookie cutter, use your finger to press down the stamp WHILE the cookie is still in the white cutter. Then the stamp cannot spread out or smash your cookie, because it's being supported. Easy peasy- put stamp in- press down cutter- press down stamp- lift up cutter, lift up stamp. Voila! If you're having trouble removing the stamp from your cookie, your dough could be too damp/sticky. A very light sifting of the flour you used over the top should make it come off with ease, but if you have a good dough recipe, it should be fairly stiff as is and not need this trick- it just comes in especially handy when baking allergen-friendly recipes where the doughs can behave a little differently. These cookie cutters are SO much fun, I've given several as gifts and was coming to look for other variations to purchase for myself.

These really work and look great!
So...I am not an experienced baker but have made a few cookies. This is a great cutter and the designs are so good you don't need to ice them, but it does make the cookie look better if you do. Some of the comments have said about problems with releasing from the red insert. I found this on my first attempt, but after a bit of research I found where I had gone wrong. First make sure the dough is chilled before you roll out. I rolled mine out between 2 sheets of parchment paper and popped back in the fridge for a couple of hours. I removed the top layer of parchment and lightly dusted the pastry with cornflour. I then dipped the white cutter and red stamp in cornflour and removed the excess with a pastry brush. I then proceeded to cut out all the cookies without any problems with sticking at all. The secret really is making sure the pastry is kept cool and stiff. Then I put all the cookies on a silicon baking sheet and put that on a baking tray. I then popped them into the fridge again for an hour before putting in the oven. Have attached some photos to show they work! These are great value as you get 6 stamps on 3 reversible plates, or you can just use the cutter on its own. They are just the right size too and the shape looks like a proper gingerbread man. As they are plastic they are easy to wash and won't rust like some of my metal ones have. Also they are easily stored in their own container. At the price they are great value, so much so I have ordered the "Ginger Girls" set as well. Really pleased with this ...one of the best gadgets I have bought for my newly found passion for baking!

Fun to use
My niece wanted to make gingerbread cookies so I was so happy to find these on Amazon. I love the different looks of each template. We got the boys and girls versions and just had a ball designing all the different characters. Some of them came out creepy looking, I will admit. Lol. The fun is definitely in the decorating. Be sure your dough is really cold when cutting them out. You will get a more defined design on your cookie once it's baked.
