HIGH QUALITY AT THAT IS AFFORDABLE!
This is an excellent knife. Do not mistake cost and quality. No this knife does not cost $300.00. But it out preforms many that do. This is one very tough knife with some excellent features. It also comes with a very nice tactical carrying rig. However, if that does not suit you, it can simply be carried on you belt in the most typical way. The steel is hard enough to preform very well, yet it sharpens easily. It will make a spark against a ferro rod and very hard rocks. as it is carbon based steel. It has both strait edge and a small serrated edge part. The handle is extremely comfortable. It has holes that make it easy to make it a spear with some cordage. The back of the handle can be used as a window breaker, to crack nuts or coconuts or as a combat tool if needed. There is a separation in the rear of the tang that makes it safe to strike electronics without being electrocuted (If you chose to do this you should seek training on other Personal Protective Equipment that is needed to do this safely) As many fixed blade knives as I have, and that is a great many, I have two of these and if I could only have one fixed blade survival knife this is the one I would pick time and time again! I keep one out that I use and another in a bug-out bag. I like it so much, I am considering buying a 3rd!

My Insurance Policy
I am not going to write an extensive review on this knife since many other reviews have pointed out the strong points that I agree with. I bought this knife because I wanted a strong reliable survival style knife with by bug-out bag. This knife is perfect for that purpose and the MOLLE attachments allow me to attach it to the outside of my Maxpedition Condor-II BackpackThis is a sharp blade and I managed to cut myself with serrations with absolutely no effort. I can tell its well made my just handling it and it fits in my hand perfectly. Some may complain about the weight, but I am willing to accept it for the pros that come with hardier construction. I have not used the glass breaker and i hope I never have to but I am fully confident that it will make short work of most any window. The sheath is very nice, but is pretty tight. Some may complain about this, but I knew about it going into the purchase. Also the two retention straps are plus. The one closest to the blade was rather difficult to close at first but after snapping it closed and letting it stretch, it now works much better.I would totally buy this knife again and I may end up adding another for redundancy in the future.Pros:Very Sharp BladeMade in the USAGreat features (Glass Breaker, Holes for lashing to stick)Great Sheath (Very secure, MOLLE Compatible, built in sharpener)Cons:Kind of heavyHard to remove from sheath with one hand

Good for law enforcement tactical purposes.
When my agency’s tactical team was formed, the leader said we should have a sturdy knife for heavy utility purposes. He specifically recommended one with an insulated handle in the event household electrical wires were encountered when cutting gun ports in walls. This knife satisfied all of my requirements. The rubberized handle provides a good grip even under difficult conditions and the metal pommel with glass-breaking point is electrically insulated from the blade. The blade is sturdy and sharp with a straight section and the serrations that are better for cutting some materials. The sheath and its nylon backer and straps permit almost unlimited mounting options. I first used its MOLLE-type strap to attach it to a tactical vest, but later removed the backer and attached the sheath by itself using plastic cable ties to a drop-leg platform along with my individual first aid kit. It’s solidly mounted in a convenient location that I can reach with either hand.A fixed-blade knife like the Gerber isn’t as convenient to carry as a folder, but it’s usually more rugged, the blade can’t get fouled or stuck, and it doesn’t require the sort of manipulation that may be difficult when one’s hands are cold, wet or slippery. And to top it all, the knife is very reasonably priced.

Gerber is ahead of the competiiton -This knife and sheath are AWESOME. This is a bargain at $100 !!!
This is an amazing value. I'm in the Air Force and i picked up a black one and a foliage green one (the foliage green is the ABU camo color). The quality is amazing This is a top-quality <<<sharp>>> Gerber blade, but made from harder steel to keep its edge longer, and a much beefier thicker blade for really rugged use. The handle feels just like it looks in the picture -- excellent grip even when wet or in the cold! I love the feature that the blade is electrically insulated from the handle, so in a jam you can cut wires without worrying about getting shocked. Finally, the sheath / scabbard and attachment system alone is worth $50!!! This is an amazing system, with a sharpener in the sheath, and really good quality sheath with leg bands or velcro to attach directly to MOLLE gear. Gerber has jumped ahead of the competition with this one!

Great Knife
This is a great knife all the way around. The blade came razor sharp right out of the box and looks to have a durable edge on it. The knife is very well made and I feel that the handle is comfotable. The sheath is molle compatable and the built in sharpener is great for in the field touch ups. The knife fits in the sheath very snug and the two retainer straps to hold the knife in the sheath were tight at first have loosened a little with use and now are nice and snug without being to hard to snap. The only reason that I didn't give this knife five stars is that it is not OD Green, it is more or a grayish light green. So if you are looking for a knife to match your OD Green pack or vest (like I did) this knife will not match. Although the color does not reflect the proformance it would be nice for the color to be the correct color that it implies.
