Touching
A very interesting & touching letters & devotion to God. Really enjoyed reading, & will read again & again to consolidate my own faith that the Lord is always with us, in sickness & in health, He always has something to show & teach us.

Wisdom shared across the centuries
This little gem has been a joy to me since I read it in my early 20s. Over the years I have bought copies to share with friends, which is why I have bought a few copies again this Christmas. Brother Lawrence, living in the seventeenth century, found a way of living with a conscious awareness of God in his daily life, which is just as fresh and relevant to us in the 21st century. Fortunately someone wrote down their conversations with him, and kept a few of his letters, so his wisdom could be passed on.When I read the New Testament in my late teens I realised how much God loves us - and finding Brother Lawrence a few years on gave me a valuable aid in living out my journey to God.

Truly Inspirational
Brother Lawrence was born 400 years ago. I get the impression that he would have been considered fanatical and radical (for his time), but I found his message of God to be passionate and inspirational. You may wonder how the words of someone who lived so long ago could possibly have any relevance to your life today. The Bible is as relevant today as when it was written 2000 years ago. God's Word never changes. Read this book and let the truths of God touch your heart. Brother Lawrence was certainly led by the Holy Spirit and his writtings reflect the truths contained within the Bible. It is definitely recommended reading to anyone who wants to know the real power of God.

Wonderful
A lot to meditate upon in terms of the love of God and our duty to abide.I cannot agree concerning the physical suffering, which is so often from the enemy and ought not to be embraced so readily. Oftentimes we open doors through disobedience or ignorance. Indeed we must lean upon Him, not asking why in an accusatory tone. That doesn't mean that we can't enquire as to any barriers or hinderances. We would do well to, as part of the process of aligning ourselves and seeking His face.Strongly recommended overall through, especially for our busy distracted souls.

A good teacher.
An excellent short book which really no more than highlights what a 'good Christian' should be doing, thinking and generally carrying on with their respective life. The success of this book, apart from being very easy to read and take-in the 'advice' it gives is the fact that the thoughts and suggestions if you can call them that, just help you to train your mind to try not to let it wander when praying etc.

A beautiful experience
A beautiful reading experience. Can it really be that simple that all we have to do is love God? But in knowing it and living it there's a whole lifetime of learning to get it right. Brother Lawrence is a great example of how to live a life full of joy - even within our darkest moments. His experiences of practising the presence of God make powerful reading and his example of how he lived his life is a valuable lesson for us all.

Short but sweet
Have heard of this book before but didn't appreciate its simple and oft times repeated advice to reside in God who resides in our heart. The Presence of God is within you and requires only that we develop the practice of being present to the Presence.Much shorter book than I'd expected that's just fulfilling one of its own pieces of advice not to use too many words.
