Excellent Buy
This is a very nice set of 6 flat and 3 round brushes. The "hairs" are soft and supple. They clean up beautifully. They retain their shape, do not shed, and hold a lot of water or color. These can be used for arts&crafts, watercolor, gouache, or acrylics. These are very versatile good quality brushes for a very reasonable price point. I highly recommend a set fir your collection.

Perfect Budget Brushes
I’ve only used the size 12 round so far, but I’m amazed at how great is this brush. The point on these brushes is exceptional. Better than some more expensive brushes I own. I’m using for watercolor and haven’t used them for acrylic because I don’t mix my brushes with different mediums so as to keep them in stellar condition. The brush fibers aren’t too soft or too hard—they’re just right! Ha! Just like the fairytale. They hold water and pigment beautifully and don’t shed or deposit paint until you’re ready to apply. I tend to use a lot of water with most of my paintings so that is crucial to applications without ruining my hard work. The ferule and handle seem adequate and comfortable—time will tell. These are such a bargain! I’m a professional/hobbyist artist, and I would buy these again in a heartbeat and most assuredly will depending on longevity. I treat my brushes with great care, so I’ll see how long they last. I have great expectations for them.

Buying a second set!
I bought my first set for watercolors and I'm buying a second set for acrylic (as you are supposed to keep them separated). I've been pleasantly surprised by the quality of these brushes. They do not shed and keep their shape. I've primarily used one size over and over learning watercolor (round #6) and it has not failed under use and cleaning. I have some craft brushes that are basically disposable after a few uses that fall apart when you clean them. These are not like that. I'm very pleased. Spend your money on better paper! It's much more important when learning than elite brushes. It will be a some time before I deserve elite brushes!

PERFECT for Watercolor, especially water washing
I probably own a few hundred paint brushes from my 30 years or so as a hobby artist. Some were quite expensive, others quite the opposite. This set is my new favorite for watercolor. They don't shed AT ALL, they hold both water and paint beautifully until you're ready to deposit them on your work, and they are very easy to clean! And, unlike some of my enamel-coated brush handles, I don't have to worry as much about leaving these soaking in water for a while, because, so far, the finish hasn't budged on any of them (I've had to sand a bunch of my more pricey brush handles down because the wood underneath their enamel finish absorbs water easily, which causes the finish to crack and flake off into my artwork). The thing I like most about these brushes, though (aside from the cost/performance value) is that they are EXCELLENT for water-washing. I use a LOT of water on my watercolors and these are PERFECT for doing an overwash on areas I've already painted and allowed to dry. I find, for shading and contouring portraits, none of my other brushes even come close to these, performance-wise.Going to have to buy a few more sets!

Nice brushes overall, but YIKES!
Nice brushes overall for the price, but the #4 I received had a mangled ferrule with 2 super sharp bits and was really crooked. Annoying that this got past quality control and created work that I didn't sign up for, but not too difficult a fix. From what I can tell so far, these bristles are more on the stiff side, and that's what I was hoping for.

Surprisingly nice
This is the second or third set of these brushes I’ve purchased. They are surprisingly pretty nice for the money and would be perfect for kids or beginners. I use them until they get kind of “tired” and then they become what I use to mix my paints or apply masking fluid rather than using an expensive brush. I can use them without worrying or being too precious about it.
