Excellent Product
After testing two 8T drives (first one damaged on shipment). The two drives were originally from different manufacturers worked with no problems. A question was raised about whether these were really 8T drives or if they had been hacked to fake report as 8T. I have just finished testing the storage capacity and a year of use and have found the drives able to store 8.001545T of data with no errors or over writes of data.So I am confident enough to have purchased a second 8T drive and have had no problems with it.PC Computer Field Service Engineer Since 1975

Seagate Has the Highest Failure Rates Among All HD Manufacturers.
I did "due diligence" before buying this off brand. Contacting the seller, he said that his company purchased overstocks, unsold, and discontinued hard drives from the major manufacturers and rebranded the devices as MaxDigitalData. So, I took a chance and purchased a $70 8TB. I was hoping to get an HGST, which retailed +$350. The descriptions and specs matched this "high end brand."."Upon delivery, I conducted a test. The HD exhibited strange grinding noise. From experience, this was an indication of future problems and crashes. So, I investigated the matter closely by examining the BIOS. Manufacturing data showed that it was a rebranded Seagate..This was no surprise. My personal experiences with Seagate hard drives were bad. They lasted between a month to a year..The BACKBLAZE HD studies validated these quality problems for years. Seagate models consistently had high failure rates. The latest report, September 30, 2022, on 230,897 hard drives was no exception. It had these results. 54% of Seagates suffered a +1% failure rate, with the highest at 6.1%. HST and Toshiba had only one of their models in the +1% category. WD had none..The purchase was returned.

Great hard drives
That’s are some good hard drives, so hood I decided to order 5 of them for my NAS device. Temps are constant and have yet to fail. They are running 90% of the time as. Have several computers writing to the NAS regularly.

Works fine, don’t freak out over usable space.
Went in a brand new computer build. No issues mounting and formatting, Win 11. It only shows up as 7452.02 GB or 7.4TB. I understand there is always a little loss on a drive, but I thought this was too much. Did some Google searches and found a MS MVP who confirmed 7.2 to 7.4 usable disk space on an 8TB drive is about right. Some of the reviews stated they had problems with data loss so I’ve been putting it to the test, copied almost 6TB on and off with no issues. Using Windows 11 file explorer and quite a bit of file copies with command line with no issues. Been almost 2 weeks with no issues. Considering another one or two for the price.

A quality drive at a great price point.
High density drives are always in demand. Unfortunately, I can't give a fair assessment until I've had in a couple of years. Then, and only then can I really rate it. Or, as the man who jumped from the top of a ten story building said... as he passed each floor... "So Far, Do Good".

BAD DRIVES: These are not new and never disclosed as refurbished.
If they are new, then they are having issues right out of the box. 5 out of the 12 hard drives I ordered are giving error signs saying that they are going bad and need to be replaced......
