Sharp & Tall/Wide
Absolutely love this tall/wide bladed chef knife. Much better than the standard skinny chef knives out there.

Looks better than it cuts or its quality
Beautiful and heavy knife (model 6" chef). Despite a few reviews for bad quality, I kept my hopes. After all, German Stainless steel 1.4116 is above your average, I would say very decent steel for kitchen knifes - considering the price of $36 and $9 discount - for $27 such a knife and all it has to offer is a no brainer, comparing to Henkel's and Wusthof price range. Then...-Cuts ok - but not as expected of that grade of steel - at this point I would keep it, just sharpen it more often with honing steel anyways.-Handle is a little bulky - and weight distribution is more towards the handle - but this is a matter of choice, not quality.-Used it for a week - 5-10 times. Hand washed, towel dried - noticed a think crack in the handle, picture attached with pointers.I mean, common, have Henkel's knifes for a decade, and the only reason for this is a smaller 6" chef - so after a week handle is cracking? - that isn't good, so returning while I can. - Gave it 3 generous stars in my humble opinion Perhaps 3.5 but didn't dare for 4. For those who gave 5 star thinking they reached the ceiling and got the best knife they ever used, let me break it to you, you had never held a sharp knife before.

Beautiful and razor-sharp. Definitely Recommend
I love this knife. I bought it because I love the Japanese quality and pride in their workmanship. This knife It's light, the steel is remarkable, the balance is super and the wood handle is beautiful. The blade is extremely razor-sharp so be cautious when you take it out of its box. Ah. The package. It would never have left the floor, even with a small mark on it. It's made of thick cardboard, covered with a black and deep red design. The knife is securely cradled and the blade is covered with the same velvet-covered foam; a gift box for a knife that will last forever. It's a minor little thing for many but I keep the knife in its package but disappointed to see it crushed and - I wish Amazon would take greater care in packaging items.

You get what you pay for
This is not a good knife. The balance is terrible. The handle is far too short and glossy, making it slippery and uncomfortable. The bolster was too long to pinch. The edge it ships with wasn't delicate enough for slicing, nor was it suitable for chopping. The knife was dragging and squishing. The smooth finish on the steel meant food clung to the sides. It felt unsafe. So, it wasn't a good cleaver and it was too rough in the hand to make a good chef's knife.I ended up using an angle grinder to take some weight off the tip, about 1.5 square inches of material, and grind down the bolster to fit my hand in a chef's pinch. This meant decreasing the angle on the sides and grinding away space for the index finger. I roughed up the glassy handle with sandpaper, then waxed it to give it some grip. Finally, I added some texture to the blade with a flap disk to prevent food from sticking so badly. For 40$ and an hour of my time, I now have a very nice vegetable chopper.

Good quality, comfortable and sharp while fairly inexpensive. Good aesthetics.
Comfortable handle and really sharp.Still need to wait and see how often I need to sharpen it but at the moment even while being very careful I noticed a couple of small non penetrating cuts on my fingers - received after washing it though, not when using. This one is good for cutting hard things and has pretty good control.I could slice some really hard cheese into paper thin slices. (it would not work with soft cheeses but with a knife less sharp or with thinner blade there would be less control and slices would have to be thicker)I may get a vegetable knife from them and see how it compares to a regular Henkel I have.I make a lot of salads and vegetable dishes so eventually differences in tools get more noticeable.
