Convenient and well made; ONLY intended for measuring water when making Rice (Not imperial cups).
This is a nice little measuring cup for when you are making Rice. Some reviewers seem to be confused about what this cup is intended for.The markings correspond to the water you would use if using a special rice measuring cup.1 合 (Go) is the traditional measure for uncooked rice. You normally use 200ml of water per 1-Go of white rice. The markings on this cup are for the amount of water you need when making rice. The markings are NOT US/Imperial Cups and have nothing to do with unrelated liquid measurements.(There are also gram estimating scales for Sugar and Wheat but I don't expect to need those.)

Perfect for immersion blenders
I found a recipe to make my own mayonnaise, but needed the right container to use with my immersion blender. This is absolutely perfect and the glass is very thick and high-quality.

Perfect small measuring cup
Having lost the lines on many measuring cups over the years due to dishwasher, I'm just hand-washing this one, not taking any chances. So I can't tell you whether the markings on these last or not.Love the small size, great for measuring out my nightly glass of wine, and yes it's accurate. Love that they include both systems of measurement.

Inaccurate US measurements
I was excited by the pleasant looking measuring cup as I had to replace some very old pyrex liquid measuring cups. After mixing an entire dough, I noticed the dough was tough and not turning out as it normally does. I started to suspect there was not enough liquid. When I actually measure one liquid cup of water in this device and compared it to two other liquid measuring cups, they difference was almost one quarter of a liquid cup. Be aware, this does not measure to US standards accurately. If you do buy, you may want to compare to your other US standard measuring cups to ensure accuracy before baking. I threw mine in the recycling bin.

Inaccurate cup measurements.
It's a lovely little cup, a nice change from the traditional though heavy Anchor Hocking measuring cups. Be aware that markings for cup measurements are inaccurate. Milliliters are fine and that's what I use.

Exactly what I was looking for
Well designed, heatproof glass. Slim and perfect for Japanese recipes. It measures Japanese cups (as described), which are about 6 oz (not 8 oz). If you use a rice cooker you know that American sized cups do not work. If you are looking for an American measuring cup, get (a clunky) one from Pyrex.

The primary job of measuring cup is to measure accurately
Let me preface this by saying I'm a pharmacist with decades of experience with metric measurement. When I pulled the glass measuring cup out of the cardboard box it seemed like a nice weight and comfortable to hold. The bottom fit the base of my stick blender and that was one of the reasons I was buying this. However, I do want to actually measure in metric quantities with this thing. I use odd metric measurement when I cut recipes in half or so substitutions. If you notice the photos, the conversion between English and metric (it says approx at the bottom) are wildly inaccurate. I'm all for approximating when I cook but this exceeds the variation in anyone's book.A fluid ounce is 30 mlA 1/2 cup is 4 fluid oz and that is 120 ml (marked as 100 ml on the glass cup)A cup is 8 fluid oz and that is 240 ml (marked at 200 ml on this measurement device)2.5 cups is 20 ounces which is 20 x 30 ml or 2.5 x 240 ml. The device says that 2.5 cups is equivalent to 500 ml or half a liter. The real measurement is 2.5 cups is 600 ml (the device is off by 20% or 100 ml). This would throw your bread or pastry way off!The other critique is that the black scale for measuring which I believe compares gram weight versus volume of a powder which you can measure in volume or weight is an odd scale. It might be measuring for flour which can be volume (mls or cups) or weight (grams or ounces). I'd be able to comment better but the package has no explanation on it, and either does the glass and it's written in a symbol language at the top of the black scale . It seems Chinese but the product was made in Japan. Go figure. It could be something all together different. So, while it seems nicely constructed, the user interface design is not good. The important job of accurate measurement would not be possible.I packed thos back in it's thin cardboard box and I'll return it ASAP.I can't comment on cleaning or durability because I never go that far. I'd return this of I were at work and received this there also.
