The best AC for small rooms
Recently moved into a duplex without central AC. We have 3 bedrooms, all of which are smaller (<200 square ft each). We decided to try a couple of these AC units, and we LOVE them. The pros:- Cools the room quickly when first turned on. Even on a hot 90+ degree, the unit can get the room to a comfortable temperature within a half hour.- Super simple controls. I love how easy it is to either raise or lower the temperature, and select either the high or low fan speed.- For not having an inverter, it's relatively quiet. On the low fan setting, I hardly notice it on in my office while I have a headset on for work.- It's very easy to install. It's quite light, so just about anyone could probably get this into a window.- It doesn't use much power. I was quite happy with our electric bill. We had moved from a slightly smaller, much newer apartment with central AC, and our montly energy usage is about the same here as it was there during the summer months.- The price is fantastic. We've owned cheaper window units in the past, and they were not nearly as nice as this. This is well worth the money.Cons:- While I do love the simple controls, it comes at the cost of not having a remote. Any time you want to change the temp, you need to walk up to the unit. I don't mind it too much though, as I usually set the temperature once and leave it there for hours.- The airflow adjustment isn't great. I feel like this is a problem with a lot of window units, not just this one in particular. Regardless of any adjustments you try to make to the direction of the airflow, it still kind of comes out at the same spot. All in all, quite a nice unit for the money. Hoping they last a long time.

Does the job! I don't find it horribly loud.
I have this in my bedroom window and it has been wonderful! Got it after the bad hot spell in the Pacific NW earlier this year and it has allowed me to get decent sleep this summer. It cools my small bedroom really well. I don't actually run it when I'm sleeping, because between a free standing window vented living room ac and this one, I am able to keep the main living area cool during the hot days and turn it off when I go to bed. It's on sale now--wish it had at the present price when I bought it, but I still consider it well worth what I paid.

Good for tight outside clearance
We have security bars on our building and this unit is the only one I've found that fits inside the bars while also sitting snugly in the window sill. It runs pretty quiet and keeps our small-medium room very cool. Basic unit but fine for the money.

Does the job in a small room.
We bought one of these air conditioners about 7 or 8 years ago. Up until recently we had it on a poorly insulated sun porch. It operated mostly during the heat of the day and was always able to sufficiently cool that room. This Summer, I was not happy with the GE 6000 but unit I had in my bedroom so I swapped the two. This LG cools my upstairs bedroom better and quieter that the GE until that is 1000 btu more. Honestly. If you want an air conditioner that cools you, forgo the fancy "smart cool" or "intelegent cool" or low energy units and go for the ones with a knob for cool level and a knob for fan speed. You just don't need any more than that.

Bottom Pan Rusts badly after 1 year, rust stains on driveway from condensate
Cooled well. After 1st Summer of use rusting & staining badly.Condenser fins rub on through paint on bottom metal pan. The bottom pan is now covered in rust and anything the condensate drains onto is stained with rust. Like siding and my driveway. LG provides 1 year warranty, so they won't look at under warranty. Given inexpensive price, not worth paying to address rust. Considerother brands that have non-metallic base pans to avoid this mess.
