Very effective for thick toenails. The included nail file is awesome!
I tend to let my toenails get too long before I do anything about them. Not good! They don't get any easier to cut. The fact is my clippers were to small, and did not open wide enough, so it toenail cutting time was a worrying time. Hah! Now I look forward to them being long enough to clip!To be clear though, you have to be able to see what you are doing and have adequate flexibility to use these on your own toes. I do. But without much to spare. I say this because the design which allows the blades to open very wide gives you the freedom to cut at dangerous angles. The corners are beveled and quite safe when the blades are closes, however when open, the corners are sharp indeed. Just brushing your skin, or poking it could easily cause a cut or puncture. And yet I give the product five stars without hesitation. There are probably some nail out there that could not be cut without these. Just be careful, that's all.The nail file is really cool. I wish I knew what exactly the design is. You can see through it, but one side has an extremely thin piece of metal on it. That metal has hundreds of microscopic perfectly round holes through it. It files with such precision that one could and did file the longitudinal grooves off on a nail leaving it so smooth it was shiny! No, I do not need this feature. I have just heard that some files can do this so, liking gadgets I had to try it. The more actually useful quality of the file is that it goes all the way to the edges of the rigid clear backing. A lot of files have a thin border at the edge. Not this one!One last note. I guess these files are sold under many brand names. They are likely made in the same factory. Mine came without any brand name on the clippers, file, or drawstring pouch to keep them in. But thus far, the quality and precision seem very good.

Great quality, attractive looking item, very sharp.
These are very sharp. I noticed a big difference vs. the Revlon implement I have used for years. The vertical bar behind the clippers is not there in this clipper. The bar keeps you from cutting too much off at once. This could be good or bad. You have to be very careful to get a straight cut and not get any nail bed or toe skin in the clippers. But they open wide to fit around and cut through the nail with ease. They are very very sharp and require little force to cut through the nail. Maybe my old ones were too dull, but I could see the difference immediately. I highly recommend these. Be sure to use in a well-lit space and put your glasses on, if needed, so you can see clearly. Cutting after a shower or bath is best. Took a couple of minutes to cut all ten toenails. I will most likely have this clipper for many years.

Best toenail clippers I've ever used
Many years ago, I bought (here on Amazon) an expensive Japanese nail management set--including a toenail clipper. It advertised itself as the sharpest nail clippers available anywhere. I couldn't tell a difference between them and the cheap clippers you get at a drugstore for 99-cents. I've tried dozens of clippers, different shapes and sizes. Different clipping mechanisms. Until this set, I hated clipping my nails. These clippers open remarkably wide to fit just about any shape or thickness of nails. This makes positioning them precisely almost effortless. But they slice cleanly--I've never torn/broken a nail from the clip-force. They also close smoothly and "bite" consistently so there are no jerky movements to cause accidents. Finally, a pair of (toe-) nail clippers that actually do what they advertise--and do it well.Another note: the included glass file smooths any rough edges remarkably quickly with little effort. I thought glass files were a gimmick, but now I'll always have one. This inexpensive hygiene investment is one of my favorite Amazon purchases in nearly 25 years.

Good leverage and sharp cutting surfaces.
I like the design of these, it's easy to get a grip on the nail and cut where you want to cut -- if you've ever accidentally snipped of some skin (or more) while trying to get at the side of a toenail you know what I mean. The cutter edges are sharp and the handle is long enough to smoothly chop through without a lotto effort. It seems sturdy and I expect it will last for a while.
