You get what you pay for....
Nuc arrives same day. Thank you Amazon Prime. It's flat packed, it says so on the description. It's less than ÂŁ30, I'm on a budget so this suits me.There are no instructions contained in pack. However all you need is some common sense and a few hours of your life.Things you need:Patience. An external PVA glue (PVA D3 Adhesive) sold on Amazon and some 1" countersunk screws. Remember glue and screw.! A set of hand clamps to clamp the pieces together ensures accuracy and speed.Assemble the sides first on a flat surface until the box is complete. Make sure that the hive entrance and rear are fitted to ensure the rainwater run off is nearest the bottom of the box.Ideally use a small countersink drill to hide the screws on the visible edges. I filled these in with decorators caulk afterwards and sanded them down flush when dry.The bottom plywood should be duplicated exactly. As mentioned in a previous comment a crown board is not included - shame really. Use the duplicated bottom plywood as your new crown board. The tin cover is good for purpose I made a few mods though (see pics) a piece of ply stuck with PVA to the underside to help with weight (windy weather) and overwintering heat loss. 4 rubber feet at each corner (PVA glued) allow a gap from the crown board to the lid. The lid is tin plated like most hives, go ahead and protect is you wish. It's fit for purpose.I added rubber feet (furniture feet Amazon) to the underside of the hive at each corner. This lifts the hive off the ground to prolong the life expectancy of the wooden base.Painting. Preparation Prevents Poor Performance. (PPPP) though you could add another "P" in their.Caulk any gaps, yes there may be some, sand down well.I used an external primer/undercoat and brush. Do this twice with 2 hours between coats. Lightly sand. Then I used a spray can gloss to get my desired colour (white in this case) and two coats.Never allow paint to get into the hive, use kitchen paper or masking tape to prevent this. Certain paints have a high toxicity level. You should wear a mask and paint in a well ventilated space. I painted my hive outside on the May bank holiday 2021. Great weather.I have also fitted a disc type bee entrance (closed, vent, excluder and open) to the REAR of the hive. What would normally be the front hive entrance is fitted with a hive entrance feeder (Amazon). This negates the need for frame feeders or crown board feeders, so need to add an empty box to the top.All in all, if you have time on your hands and say ÂŁ40 GBP to include the paint and feet, this is an ideal Nuc box for all beekeepers. Stay safe and happy beekeeping, Mark.PS I should add that I have not received any payment or incentive from the seller or Amazon for this review.

Well made nuc box
National nuc box ready made. Good quality with a robust lid. If you keep the box lifted from the ground it keeps drier. Empty inside. National frames fit perfect.

Small and ideal
After assembly and blocking off the second entrance it was stained and varnished on the outside. Assembly was reasonably straight forward and after a call a captured swarm was in side. Combs formed in three days bees happy. Yes a bit cheap and cheerful but careful assembly soon made it an awesome hive. Would buy again.

Good for beginners
I like this wee Nuc Beehive simple to put together and I also did a drawing of it so I can build them myself in future. Not bad at the price but never received any nails with my Nuc box. That is why I only gave it 4 stars no nails with box.

Cheap and cheerful
Easy to assemble. Will do the job.Could have done without the massive AGS Logo on the side. The paint doesn't even cover it. Annoying

Poor design and quality
The design of this nucleus lacks basic principles for keeping bees in a good state even during the summer. The timber is very thin (0.6mm), there is no crown board and the roof is only made from galvanised steel. What a waste of time and money to purchase it. I assume the seller doesn’t have any idea about what is good for bees.I would not recommend to buy this nucleus.
