overall its very good study guide for you to review the material you learned
Updated:I reverted and changed my rating from 5 stars to 3 stars because there are actually a lot more typos than I expected in the textbook. If you are not very familiar with CCNA content, this might not be the best book for you to study and learn the materials because the practice questions are not similar to the actual CCNA questions. Throughout the books, you will often realize that there are no answers to certain practice questions and certain questions have duplicate multiple choice options. As shown in my previous review, certain questions have an invalid answers. But I guess this book can really help you to understand and learn the small missing part of CCNA content.-------------Previous Comment:Pros:1. It helps you to review what you have learned about CCNA and prepare yourself for the exam.2. The author explains the materials in a fun easy-going tone.Cons:1. I found out that there are some typos in the study guide. For example, on page 548, the solution at the back shows two answers of question 9, but the question itself does not specify to choose two answers. At the same time, the answer for question 11 on the same page is missing. On Page 660, the question "what is the DHCP option 43 hex value for a single WLC with the IP address 192.168.123.100" and the answer at the back is B - F102C0A97B64, but the answer should be F104C0A87B64 because the question said its for a single WLC, and clearly it should be F104 not F102 because 1 (first number of the ip address)*4 = 4

Passed CCNA but you should know...
Passed CCNA on the first try using both this guide and Cisco's free packet tracer labs, but did not use his CCNA volume 1 guide. I enjoy Todd's narrative approach and his focus on incorporating subnetting into all practice materials help overcome one of the tougher subjects on the exam. However, you should know this book approaches CCNA as the first step in an IT career, not necessarily as a CCNA bootcamp. I prefer this outlook because, as many other reviewers have pointed out, there are sections where Todd says "this isn't on the exam but you need to know it professionally" which is added value, if you ask me. I also must agree with earlier reviews that this book has many grammatical errors which are distracting but are likely a result of him rushing out the current version after the 200-301 released. Assuming you also work a full-time job, I would say this book requires at least 2 months to prepare for the exam. This book won't be worth it if you can't commit the time needed to read it thoroughly and re-read chapters as needed. The accompanying practice tests go into way more detail than both the book and the exam cover. That was frustrating for me--especially since a lot of the explanations for incorrect options are simply, "X is incorrect." Just realize that if you can handle the practice questions then you are probably going to do fine on the exam. Really focus on the core concepts like how to read a routing table, how VLANs work, and troubleshooting why an interface is down based on various output snippets. In my opinion this book covers all that adequately as long as you are also using GNS3 or packet tracer to do his online labs or at least practice the CLI on your own.
