Lightweight and Sturdy
I got this product to use with a mixed herd of sheep and goats. While the goats are easy to catch and care for, the sheep like to stay a good arm's length away, making it very difficult to check health, give medication, trim hooves, etc. The crook shape is traditional, and I am sure has its place, but the most useful part of this device is the leg-catching hook on the bottom. It is so easy now to get the sheep to some fresh hay and hook their back leg without having to get close enough to spook them. I am sure it would work equally well on goats, but ours are so friendly that we have not needed it for this use. This is a very lightweight material, but it is strong and sturdy. It has been a game changer as far as caring for our livestock goes.

Work smarter, not harder
Great! Reduced time to catch Katahdin ewes from about eight minutes apiece in a barn with no tools (just a feed bucket) to about thirty seconds each. The opening was plenty big enough for the necks of adult Katahdin ewes. I even got the crook around the neck of a large Katahdin ram, although it was a tight fit and required some force to back it off again.I have yet to need to use the leg catch. The fiberglass shaft had a few whiskers from the factory. Rub those off with something other than your hand before getting up close and personal.Great product! Recommended for taking the guesswork out of catching sheep.

Great sheep catcher!
We have 600 sheep. This book has helped in sorting and moving them. Just reach in while feeding. Works very well.

Easy Work- 9 month old male sheep
The media could not be loaded. Dorper sheep- This is my first attempt and you see how it went. Hes 9 months old and pushing 100 pounds. Used the foot catch. Put some grain in a rubber feeder and let them eat. Hard to catch in an open field but not this time.

Works, but wary.
I use it for some of my goats that I bought. Some were not handled at all. Before this I had to corner and catch them in the air as they tried to jump pass me. With this it works extremely well for catching a neck on the move. I'm personally green when it comes to catching with this so the leg end will need alot of practice on my part. So far I'm only lucky with the neck. Being wary because it bends easily and one with horns could snap it if it was twisted and the goat was heavy enough. So far it good for me.

LOVE this!
I have herded sheep and goats for over 30yrs and just discovered this product. This is a must have item. I love it. Will never be with out it again. Catches small lambs to large rams and holds them untill you let them go. Awesome and well made.

Must Have Shepherd's Crook
Excellent crook. Lightweight, easy to carry all day. It flexes and doesn't seem to break, and I'm a hard user. The two different heads on each end offer great function and capabilities. Sheep & goats don't get away with this crook!
