This is the real deal. Don’t get duped by those others!
Like most folks, I’ve trusted product packaging, and for years have bought dewormers based on their listing all of the worms on the front of the box as if the dewormer kills them all. Only “that other brand” doesn’t.We travel quite a bit, taking road trips with our dogs, and since we stay at dog-friendly hotels and cottages where a gazillion other dogs have paraded through, leaving behind whatever they carry for our dogs to pick up, I deflea before every road trip to ensure protection going in, and deflea and deworm faithfully after every road trip (at the proper interval for the flea product).Well our dog Sierra picked up tapeworms in spite of the other dewormers, the flea treatment barrier, and in spite of being on a heartworm preventive that also kills some of the other worms. Also, she does NOT have fleas. There hasn’t been a visible flea on her in years, or flea dirt, or scratching. But somewhere in our travels, she picked up a load of tapeworms which come from fleas. That’s when I got busy researching. And this is what I discovered. Bayer’s Quad dewormer carries THREE ingredients, each of which targets a specific subset of worms. Praziquantel kills TWO types of tapeworms. Pyrantel pamoate kills hookworms and roundworms. Febantel kills whipworms. The “other” brand I used before, in spite of listing all these worms on the front of the box, is not as inclusive. It only carries ONE ingredient, and that ingredient doesn’t kill flea tapeworms. It kills some other kind of tapeworms.Quad by Bayer appears to be prescription-grade, being an exact match for an RX dewormer. And you only use it ONCE. A single treatment. It comes in the form of a dog biscuit.Make sure to read the package to determine if your dog should get one biscuit or two, based on weight and the package you bought. All that said, dewormers kill adult worms but there will still be eggs hatching. So unless you’re using it as a preventive, if you believe that your dog has an active case of worms, you’ll want to follow up with additional doses. Also, no dewormer guarantees a 100% kill rate. Not the other brands, and not Quad, but this is the most powerful of all the OTC dewormers according to my research.Every worm has its own timetable. And because our dog picked up something else on these road trips as well, I opted for the most aggressive deworming schedule. She got a 2nd dose three weeks after the 1st dose. And she’ll get a 3rd dose at 2 months from the 1st dose, and then a final dose at 3 months from the 1st dose. And then she’ll go on a preventive dosing schedule (which doesn’t actually PREVENT worms, but keeps them in check by killing them off regularly).Quad is expensive, make no mistake. But it is TOTALLY worth it for peace of mind, because it is the most inclusive dewormer that I found.Side effects were minor. She had a bit of an urgency to dump a load, and it was a big load for her. I did look to see if any worm segments were in it, but this is designed in such a way that they get digested internally rather than exit out the back end. So you might not see segments.

excellent product great price
For just a bit more money than 1 dose for 1 dog at my local store I received enough product to do both my med and large dogs and it worked perfectly and was easy to administer.

Works as advertised
Worked great. After reading several reviews I decided to give my boy (American bulldog) 1/2 tab at a time over 4 hours. He had worms, this cleaned his tummy of them. He did not like the "cookies" had to make him eat them, which was easy enough because they're small.

Works on the COMMON tapeworm types
I won't list the technical names of the types of tapeworms I researched, but most of the tapeworm medicines at your local store don't affect the tapeworms that dogs COMMONLY get. That doesn't go to say your dog doesn't have one of the less common types, but it does indicate a reason why most of the store tapeworm medicines do not work more often than they do. With that being said, this stuff does work. It is a little more expensive than the store medicines, but it knocks the tapeworms out. My dog kept showing signs of tapeworm in his excrement. I purchased some over the counter stuff at my local store. It didn't seem to work. So I got online and done some research and tried this. After the recommended dosage, I haven't seen any more signs.Remember, follow the recommended dosage. NEVER worm a sick dog. Finally, if you are unsure, always carry your dog to the vet. If you're going to own a pet, take care of it the best you can.

1 is not working
I got 2 of these for my dogs. One is working great. The other... I have pulled 12 ticks off of his neck in the first 3 months and that many more from the rest of his body.I have used these for several years, and have been happy. Not with this one.

The one my vet uses
Easy to use with your pet my dog will readily take it then again she will eat anything so but she likes it and it seems to be tasty enough to her and that works.

Finally an broadspectrum dog wormer that is effective against the tapeworm common to dogs via the common flea intermediary host.
Broad spectrum wormers are excellent IF the product covers ALL of the common worm parasites. The granular broad spectrum OTC products on the market do NOT cover the common parasites. The tapeworm species commonly seen in dogs that have the common flea as an intermediate carrier is NOT covered by those other products. My multiple water & field hunters demonstrated this to me in a lesson not to be forgotten. Upon switching to this product with praziquantel, no parasite resistance has been seen, whatsoever. My vet is in complete agreement. The only other protection needed is to be sure that EFFECTIVE flea treatment (collars, etc) is included in your hunting partner's preventative care. When faced with resistant tapeworm infestation (bloating, cough, malaise, dry dull hair persistent after worming with other products), use this product. Then worm in one week to kill parasites that hatch from existing tapeworm eggs present at the time of initial worming. I then worm again one month from the initial worming to eliminate any remaining parasites & to prevent survival of tapeworms that can develop resistance to drug therapy.
