Informative
I liked this book, it was quite informative with an array of info I was unaware of not just for eye health, but he discusses foods and vitamins to take to heal, treat or prevent sickness or injury.Simply written and easy to follow with good advice. I know I’m feeling better already just adding some vitamins & spices I didn’t know about to my daily health regime.

My Optometrist is Amazed
I read this book in 2018 months and follow its advice to this day. The photos taken of my retina in 2018 and 2022 show great improvement. I had caught the MD when it was just barely detectable, and now my doctor says it’s no longer macular degeneration at all! MD was my worst fear in life, and it feels wonderful to be free. I hope everyone reading this will follow the advice of this book.

Not So Much About Macular
I was just diagnosed with ARMD at 54 yrs. Based on the title, I thought this book would focus on macular and how to best live with it and in my opinion this book does not. It touches on it early and then it is a book on health when you are a senior. I guess the author didn't have enough to contribute on macular. Telling me what bed I should buy or how to kill ants in my kitchen is not what I need right now.

A layman's personal take on macular degeneration--worth reading but get medical advice as well
How I Beat Macular Degeneration in the Early Stages and How You Can Too! Is the personal views of Alan N, McClain on how he was able to reverse a disease that is regarded as irreversible. The book also contains suggestions for how to have higher energy levels and a longer life. I was recently diagnosed with having early stage macular degeneration so that this book had special meaning for me. I found it to be informative and have adopted some of its suggestions. At the same time McClain is a lay person and I want to read a book by a medical doctor specializing in this disease. I found some of his ideas to be contrary to sound nutritional practice. For example he supports eating chicken, turkey and dairy products that contain harmful ingredients. He also makes a number of claims that are suspect and should be checked out, such as freezing nuts and keeping your vitamins in the refrigerator. I did check out his claim that melatonin is effective in limiting the effects of macular degeneration and found scientific studies to support this claim. My advice is for readers to do the same—do not accept what he says as medically sound, but rather verify the information and read material prepared by medical specialists regarding this disease. Moreover, much of his advice is hard to follow. I agree that doctors do not always provide the information needed for this disease. In my case for example the ophthalmologist I went to just said "come back to see me in six months." Finally his ideas on how to have more energy are also suspect. Does taking a supplement of all th B vitamins really help? Accordingly I rate the book at 4 stars but with this limitation.

SUCKERED
Rarely do I throw a brand new book in the recycle bin. I literally threw out this book. I found this book rambling, repetitive just for the sake of volume, and trite. I learned nothing, and was annoyed at the constant off topic excursions. I don't really need the author to tell me how to get a stuck lid off a jar! There's another impressive testimonial type book absolutely packed with information and research, (and documented success). I even emailed the author with a question, which he cordially answered. Since druzen spots sometimes disappear spontaneously, I suspect this guy had that happen and just capitalized on it. Just my opinions, but I'm a serious patient and researcher in this area, and feel suckered.

Easy and outstanding book to read!
This book is very informative in how to beat Macular Degeneration. Easy and outstanding book to read. Mr. Alan McClain provides ways to improve your eyesight in healthy tips with everyday foods you can find in the supermarket. The Amsler Grid test is quite helpful. I now wear Amber sunglasses because of this book and see much better. I highly recommend this book.

Good Read but Goes off Subject
It's an easy read and somewhat informative. It has tips on nutrition, food preparation, and supplementation. However, the author goes off the track (perhaps to write a full book) about such things as food storage, removing ants from the house, etc. That's not why I purchased the book. I've read six books on the topic and my favorite is "Stop Vision Loss Now!" by Bruce Fife, N.D.btw, can't help noticing there are quite a few five-star reviews here that are NOT verified purchase. You be the judge.
