Enjoyed reading it. Took me back to time when I was growing up in Nepal
Enjoyed reading it. Took me back to time when I was growing up in Nepal. I could picture myself during the civil war days, and the incidents that happened.

The narrative hooks you while the translation disappoints
The plot is constructed beautifully and the narrative flows through troubled times in the country brushing on major events in a very nonchalant manner. One downside is that while the lead character is largely developed to be likable, he comes across as a creep at several points. I did not see the necessity of such references especially considering they do nothing to add to the broader narrative. However, the translation doesn't do justice to the narrative at all. Attempts to paraphrase and translate Wagle's artistic charm have failed terribly. Literal translations of nuanced expressions end up taking away from the experience.

engaging dialogues, relevant prose, a must read
The book portraits story during war times in Nepal, I could relate to every incident described in the book as someone who has been through it. Very entertaining and engaging conversations of Drishya and Palpasa occupies the reader. The novel appears as romantic in the middle but happens to be tragic at the end.
