Q: The shredder will be used for preparing mixed garden waste ready for composting so will it cope with green waste as well as woody waste?

Difficult to say with any certainty. I haven't had mine long and it sounds like we are doing a similar thing. It is the best shredder I have ever had for woody waste, it will take fresh Phormium leaves and I put eucalyptus branches with lots of leaves on and they went straight through no bother, as does dried off herbaceous plant matter. Very soft or wet stuff is difficult to get into the machine and Pampas plumes block the discharge shoot almost immediately. I am still learning what it will and won't do but on the whole I love it! It took me an hour to put together but mostly because having built it I had dismantle it again because when I got to the end I realised that nowhere in the instructions does it mention fitting the battery box, which you have to sling under the chassis with the same bolts that hold the engine above it!

It is a Lithium ion battery. It is charged when the engine is running and can also be charged with an external trickle charger.
