Victron Orion Smart 30A 12V DC to DC charger with Bluetooth connectivity

I was surprised that Victron kit was becoming so much better value for money than it had been. This was installed to charge a LiFePo battery which it does really well and the bluetooth interface is so easy to use to see what it's doing. It does get hot so I fitted a small fan to run from the vans ignition supply to keep it cool when in use. Also it does need setting up before use as it can run your vans battery down if not correctly configured.

Super easy to install but setting it up to charge my liesure battery from my van alternator through the app has been a pretty much a lot of guesswork and prayer. No presets for flooded batteries and I still haven't fine tuned the numbers. I'm still adjusting the charge rates but not really getting any where. Even though my van has a smart alternator euro 5, I might go back to the voltage regulator/splitter I was using previously.After being in contact with the seller I have now been using this item daily for the past two or more months and it has been perfect, no faults or issues at all so yes I would not hesitate to recommend this smart charger.

This item is quite a bit bigger than the photos would suggest is pretty much 7" wide, 5" tall and 3" deep.The item is straight froward to fit if you follow the instructions, however, the main issue was (not the sellers fault) to access the initial settings (prior to connecting the battery to be charged) you must connect via bluetooth, the manufacturers app and website states the default password to access bluetooth is six zeros, this ws not the case, i eventually spotted a label on the box that mentioned a pin number, ,tried that and it worked, wasted 2 hours trying the stated code. This item is an absolute must if using it to charge a LifPo4 battery, (a normal split charge relay is likely to damage your lifpo4 battery but would be suitable for a lead acid battery ) this model is for use where your leisure battery and vehicle share the same earth i.e. the vehicle chassis, if the vehicle and leisure battery are completely isolated you must use the Isolated version.

Fitted one a year ago and the build quality and performance is second to none.S0 a year later, I am now fitting a second B2B into my van conversion to boost the power of charging my lithium whilst driving..If you plan on converting a van to a camper van and plan on spending a long time in the van travelling or living full time, then Victron is the way ahead!

Purchased this after having an issue with Renogy products, and straight away the charge on this thing is pretty amazing. Really impressed with the ease of installation and confident I have a piece of equipment that will last the test of time.
