Beautifully Detailed
2020 Mattel Jurassic World Primal Attack “Attack Pack” AlioramusWhen Primal Attack was unveiled all the way back at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, Alioramus was one of the first new species to be revealed. Strangely, despite its early unveiling, the Alioramus is among the last releases (as far as we know) for the line.Alioramus was a small Tyrannosaurid from Late Cretaceous Mongolia. It’s most defining characteristic is the row of five bony crests on its snout.Mattel has done a stellar job bringing this species to life. The amount of detail is incredible! This figure features some of the most diverse and well defined integument on any of the Attack Pack range! From tiny , bumpy scales on the snout, neck, and ribs, to larger scales along the back and thighs, and even crocodilian-like scales on the underside. Perhaps the best details, however, are the feathers that adorn the back of the head, as well as tufts on the arms and legs. I especially love the feathery area just past the eyes. It gives it an almost bird of prey-like appearance. Even the tongue features some great texturing!Articulations on this figure are pretty standard for the range. The limbs can all move forward and back. The tail can rotate. The mouth can open very wide, and the neck can move up and down with a pretty great range of motion. The coloration on the Alioramus is very nice. It’s very naturalistic, yet still vivid without being overly flashy. The main body is a dark brown with red markings striped across the back and sides. The underside is counter shaded with a creamy white. My particular figure has a rather unfortunate paint mishap, however. Somehow, the right side of the underbelly did not receive the cream paint. This is not a prevalent issue by any means, but I needed to mention it to avoid confusion. I have a second one still packaged, and its belly is normal. As with all Attack Packs, the claws remain unpainted. Unlike most Attack packs, however, the paint applications continue along the majority of the tail. The head features the most impressive paint applications on any of the Attack Pack figures! The red markings on the head are expertly applied. There is a darker brown applied just around the orbits which helps the eyes stand out. The eyes are bright, and are nearly perfect in their application. The five crests are painted an ivory color, as are the teeth, and there is not even a hint of sloppiness in their applications. There’s also a bit of glossy paint applied to some parts of the face. I’m not sure why it’s there, but it looks nice, and adds to the figure’s uniqueness. The Attack Pack Alioramus is truly a standout figure of the Attack Pack range. I would go so far as to say that this is, without question, my new favorite Attack Pack figure. It’s easy to see why Mattel chose to highlight it in the initial Primal Attack reveal!

About the size of a raptor - but is only okay
This is a unique Jurassic World dinosaur. We had not seen it, or heard of it before looking at the app. My son had to have it once he saw it though. We had to buy from a vendor here on Amazon. It was about double the price for similar sized items like a raptor or dracorex or something. It has nice detailing and color. My biggest issues are that the mouth is hard to open and close. The teeth over lap strangely making the jaws difficult to pry open and use. Secondly, the neck joint it fairly loose so posing is only okay. Lastly, it had some sharp plastic molding that I had to file down because it wasn’t smooth. On both sides of the jaws, it had really neat texturing but was uncomfortably sharp. I took a file to it for a little bit and was able to fix that, but I shouldn’t have had to do that. The texturing is still there and looks great, but that was clearly bad manufacturing.Overall it is just an okay Jurassic World Dino. At 10 bucks it might be fine, but since I paid more it wasn’t a very good value. It’s unique, which is cool, but you can pass on it unless you feel you must have it because you want to complete your collection, it’s your favorite Dino, or something.
