I ordered this set from a Japanese seller on Amazon to save a little money and it was less expensive than any other online source I reviewed. Much to my surprise it arrived within 2 weeks. To respond to a few previous comments: the set I received was in brand new condition. Dan Smith hand pours their pans so volume will be uneven. I'm quite familiar with DS watercolors and they are all excellent, perhaps especially for those who are into landscape painting since they have a great variety of earth and granulating pigments. This particular set is probably the best ever sold by DS -the pigments include almost all of Jane Blundell's "ultimate mixing set" of expanded primaries plus an excellent selection of greens (perelene, undersea green), other wonderful secondaries like Quin Burnt orange and core earth pigments including Goethite and raw Sienna light, which are seldom included in 24 pan sets. The extra empty palette is a bonus that allows you to add favorites not included in the set. I could not be more pleased with the product, the service, and the price. Thanks, Amazon.

These are the love of my life. Enough said.The extra tin really adds value. I mean…recognize the market cost of a high quality watercolor tin. I’m just saying.Daniel Smith is an excellent professional line of watercolor. It’s a well-earned reputation.The value for quality of this set is directly on point.Granted, I wish everything would only cost less than five dollars but…back to the real world.Worth every penny saved up or just splurged.

I’m really excited to have little half pans of some colors I’ve been wanting to try. That said, there are an in ordinant number of brown shades and not one purple or violet. Some of them explode on the page really really well, but sometimes a little bit too well. Not sure I would recommend these for beginners because of the inconsistencies. On the other hand, there are times when those inconsistencies look amazing. I’m finding that I like these for loose watercolor, not as much when I’m trying to do something controlled, like an illustration.
