So cool!
My daughter loves this so much! You can zoom in super close and see cells. Really works well for a beginner microscope. No complaints here!

Impressive! (and I used to teach in a science lab)
I purchased this for my 6 year old son. I didn’t have high expectations; I used to teach biology labs for a private university and I was accustomed to scopes that cost hundreds of dollars. I was surprised—this little scope performs! The 4x and 10x objective lenses are as crisp and sharp as many of the university scopes I used. The overall feel of the scope is good. The coarse and fine focus knobs work well and the stage and stage clips are good. It comes with both a 10x and 25x ocular lens, and the 10x has the pointer. The 40x objective lens I found to be less sharp, but some deep cleaning might help. The set also comes with some pre-mounted slides as well as blank slides and cover slips. My son has greatly enjoyed looking at cells, and we’ve spent several hours finding insects and plant matter to view. He’s learned so much about plant and mammal cells in just a few sessions. If you’re on the fence, don’t hesitate to purchase this! It would be ideal for homeschool science class and amateur scientists alike. Five stars!

Great product for the price point!
I bought this for my 8 year old who loves doing "experiments" and has an interest in Science. I was surprised with the quality. The body is medal as described and the rest of the parts are solid. The extra slides, book and accessories are a nice bonus at a minimal cost. She loves it! It's been fun to use for the whole family! I do recommend buying some additional blank and pre-made slides. My only real disappointment is the that AmScope does not make a carrying case specific to this microscope.

First microscope!
Quality microscope for a beginner! My budding scientist grandson loves it! Substantial in weight and lenses are very clear. The price is very reasonable. My only suggestion would be to include an instruction manual more appropriate to the age level.

Great for curious young scientists
I originally purchased a microscope that was 3 times the cost of this one, living under the notion of "you get what you pay for". Let's just say my child was thoroughly unimpressed at the complexity, and pouted the rest of the day. One important thing I failed to consider was how many OPAQUE objects an 8 year old would want to view close up. Here's the issue: when you place an item (such as a penny) under a microscope that is only lit from below, the light can't pass through. So you see black. Try explaining that concept to an over excited child who just wants to find random objects and see what they look like! So, I immediately got online to find a microscope that had MULTIPLE lighting sources. Also, although it might seem more beneficial to an adult to have the "binocular style" eyepiece, try and recall the last time you assisted a youngster in focusing actual binoculars. I don't know the technical reason for it, but basically it is a pain in the butt, so go with the single eyepiece for now, unless you have a child with independent binocular experience. Last thing, this bundle comes with a couple prepared slides. Your child (or yourself) will have so much fun seeing what is on the slides, that you will realize you want to see more. After swabbing your ear, spitting, and cutting locks of hair to place on the blank slides, you will decide that before someone goes to the extreme of performing a biopsy on the goldfish, you should just order additional slides on Amazon! Save time, do that now...(the book that comes with is very fact-filled and not at all a corny cheapy)

Overall a Good Microscope for Kids/Students
Bought this microscope for our homeschool. While I would have loved a much higher quality microscope, I also wanted something that was more kid-friendly without being junk. This microscope fits for that purpose. There are just 3 things that result in the 3-star review.1. It does not come with a manual. Yes, it comes with a very awesome book about microscopes in general. It looks like it'll be a lot of fun, but an actual manual would have been nice also. If you go to their actual website you can download a digital one or contact customer service if you can't find the one you're looking for. Unfortunately, the manual isn't very comprehensive. We were wanting to learn exactly how to use it so we could get the full benefit of all of its features and how to properly take care of it (cleaning, storage, etc.) The manual doesn't do this.2. WF 10X Eyepiece has a metal thing inside of it called a pointer. We didn't know what this was. Customer service explained it to me and said we could take it out if we wanted. The problem with that is the pointer has a very sharp point that I not only accidentally poked myself with, I'm concerned any attempt to pull it out will scratch the lens. We will leave it for now and see if it's something we find useful in our studies. Since there was no manual with the microscope and it's been decades since I've used one, I had no idea what it was. Some kind of paper with a description of its purpose would have been nice. I almost thought it might have been a lame fix on a broken eyepiece.3. Storage case. I like that it has a dust cover, however, I have an extra eyepiece with no place to safely store it. Along with the slides and plug and batteries. I now have to figure out how to best keep everything intact and in one place so things don't get lost or broken. An actual storage case would have been nice. Most customers are going to look for and spend the money on one anyway, why not include one that is specific for this microscope and increase the price a tad to make it less of a pain for customers and to increase this product's sell?Overall, we do like this microscope. Now that I have the manual - though basic, and an understanding of the pointer in the eyepiece, I think we will be able to figure everything else out in time. It is sturdy. Not a cheap lightweight plastic. I feel this was money well spent. It is a welcome addition to our homeschool lessons.
