Wow!
I have way too many pocket knives. This Canis is far, far from being my first knife. For years, my favorites were old Camillus 5-blade Boy Scout knives. Later, when my thumbnails stopped being useful, I switched to other styles that were easier to open. I've mainly gravitated toward Spydercos and Benchmades, although I've tried and liked many others. Then my oldest friend gave me a Spyderco Manix 2 with custom scales. It quickly became my favorite. No other knife I tried ever quite measured up to it. That friend is no longer alive, so that Manix now has an extra sentimental value. It takes a LOT to get me to put a different knife in my pocket.Well, this Canis it is giving that Manix 2 some serious competition for pocket time. I love everything about it: the look, the feel, the action, the blade shape, the sharpness -- everything.I'm rarely satisfied with the sharpness of new knives. Nearly all of them need at least a little touching up before I'm happy with them. That wasn't true with the Canis. It was paper-shaving sharp right out of the box -- easily as sharp as I've ever gotten any knife.I hesitated before I bought this Canis. Now, I wish I'd gotten it sooner. It's definitely a keeper.

Found it
After owning several dozen knives of which most are premium grade I have discovered a knife that now allows me total confidence. The CANIS wins on all fronts. Great job spyderco!

My new favorite EDC
I’m just getting deeper into the wonderful world of the EDC...I’ve owned some Benchmades, Kershaws, and more recently a Kizer Mini Sheepdog, and Spyderco lightweight Paramilitary 3. All good knives! I think however the Canis is my new instant favorite, and definitely my new EDC. It is “just right” - not too big, but man, that sharp point blade, the Spydy - hole flicking action, the weight, the feel....yes its true the Canis was designed to be a fighting knife, which is great if i ever get attacked at Costco....but realistically 99% of the time I’ll be opening boxes, slicing cords, plastic packages...the cool factor is 10/10. Yes it was pricey, but honestly the enjoyment and service i expect to get from it will more than blur the memory of said price.

Awesome knife for EDC
Wasn’t sure about this knife but once I got to see and handle it in person there is no doubt. This knife is an awesome EDC from the blade to the ergos and the weight. Great Spyserci knife!! I’d never have guessed how fidgety this knife would be. Thumb flick, reverse flick, “spider” open are all very satisfying. The action is great so smooth and the compression lock is a great addition to this!

This is the real deal
I got this knife and loved it, so I immediately began carrying it. Within an hour I dropped it on concrete and chipped the tip, just a little off of the edge grind portion of it. It’s taken me four Spyderco diamond sharpening rods (hours and hours and hours) to get the tip back, but now it’s razor sharp again and will be carried again tomorrow. So... I can confirm that the S30V is real, and that it’s really hard. Also, this is just a great feeling knife, in hand. Amongst my several $200ish dollar knives, this is gonna remain a favorite for a while. The Canis and the Yojimbo both seem to function the best when opened with an index finger Spydie-flick. The Yojimbo especially makes me feel like I’ll slide my thumb down it’s edge if I’m not careful opening it, because it has a partially covered Spydie-hole.

Great for tactical but...
Comfortable handle, strong lock and a blade shape for tactical use... but for everyday it lacks. The straight edge with the way it sits in the handle makes it a tip use blade. Sometimes I need to use my blade to scrape using the edge. This blade doesn't allow it. Great tactical not so good for edc

Satisfied
Pretty much all my knives are Spyderco, this Canis is a very nice knife. Handle fits great in the hand and the blade design is very versatile, not to mention sharp AF.

Has potential but..
Made in Taiwan and feels that way. For the money I wish that spyderco would make this in the US with US parts and QC. Returned…
