Fantastic Product!
I bought this for double hip replacement and I'm very glad I did! It was easy to use and will stay cold a whole day or night depending on how much you use it and I used it a lot. First on one hip, then on the other, then back again for hours. Saves you, or your caregiver the hassle of filling ice bags or refreezing ice packs constantly, especially at night. You can adjust how cold you want it and the motor was very quiet. It's very well made, user friendly and does not leak or sweat. I'm sure it's the reason that I was pain free for much of my recovery and my swelling was reduced considerably. Although I bought the large shoulder pad, because it came with the unit, it worked perfectly fine on my hips. It's already being used by other members of my family for a sport injury, so worth the investment.Tip - we used three frozen bottles of water along with the water and filled the remaining space with ice cubes. We think it made the ice last longer and you can just throw the bottles back in the freezer when you change it up to a fresh load.

Excellent device. Real relief, and with a few tricks, very convenient.
Until we got this, we weren’t very good about icing to prevent soreness or help in recovery. But when. my wife had shoulder surgery, we took the plunge, and it’s very worthwhile. Ice is annoying because it doesn’t last long, isn’t very flexible, so it doesn’t make good contact, and it’s actually too cold to be comfortable. So, first off, the actual way to use this product (thanks to other amazon reviewers) makes all the difference. Get 10 12 ounce water bottles and freeze them. You put 5 of them at a time in the device and fill the rest of the way with water. This has a lot less surface area than crushed or cubed ice, so the water runs a little less cold — which is actually better. As a result, the ice lasts 4-6 hours, and at the end, you can just swap it with the other 5 bottles in your freezer. Super convenient, and you can ice for much longer periods. You should wear a light shirt or pants or a towel under the device to prevent frostbite, though.Unlike other reviewers, we actually found the shoulder pad more helpful for the shoulder than the universal.

Prouduct is not as descibed and is a big hassle..stick to reusable ice packs !!
So very disappointed in this product. I bought 2 weeks prior to shoulder replacement surgery. Be prepared or so i thought...I read all the reviews along with spouse..sounded great and he knew he could put it together...OMG opened the box, the instructions are a bit over detailed and go on forever..but we followed to the letter..turned it on and waited and waited and waited...the cold water circulated to about 3/4 of the pad, but the one part of the pad didnot seem to fill and would not lay flat like the rest of the pad...pad itself was cold but way inadeqate...we took it into the bedroom..hoses didn't reach from floor to my shoulder, put it on top of table next to bed, no better, so we just gave up....the hospital sent me home with refreezable ice packs with a holder that had velcro straps, etc...also had ordered a shoulder ice pack from Amazon as well and glad i did.. so this prouct is just not what it is portrayed to be...sending it back...another shock...big retocking fee if item is used...etc etc..why ? YOU HAVE TO PUT IT ALL TOGETHER TO SEE IF IT EVEN WORKS.. we shall see what happens...it came in the manufactures box only, so that is how i am shipping it back with all the many pieces parts...ps..there is no way to totally drain the pads..we suspended the tubing and the pads for two days over the sink and there was water still in the pads...so i would assume you would have to buy new pads eventuaaly as i would think u would have an odor or mold problem...stick to ice packs...

Definitely worth it for labrum surgery
I had labrum surgery just over a week ago and had purchased this at recommendation of my surgeon. Technically my surgeon suggested renting a GameReady machine but I waited too long and couldn’t get one in time. The reviews for this were great and it looked like it would do the trick.I am very happy with the purchase for the most part. Anyone having labrum surgery I would HIGHLY recommend purchasing this unless you will be renting a GameReady or something similar. This helped a ton with pain and I iced almost continuously for the first 48 hours, then tapered to all night with times during the day afterwards.I was lucky enough to get access to a GameReady today and wanted to review this to give a comparison in case it could help anyone else. If you have the funds, go for the GameReady. It’s much easier to put the sleeve on and I’m able to do it myself (surgery was on my dominant arm). The Game Ready also covers more of the body and will tighten and loosen during icing, almost like a blood pressure cuff does. As for this one, I needed my husband’s help to put it on and it was uncomfortable to sleep in the first two nights until I got a hang of it and how to adjust it properly. This one is much quieter than the GameReady though and never bothered me overnight.Overall I’m happy with my purchase, even if I only used it for one week. It helped tremendously with pin management and helped me stop all pain meds after two days. I’ve been driving since day 4 and am back to normal as much as I can be as a mom of two little kids without the use of one arm. Best of luck to anyone reading this about to have labrum surgery.

Mandatory Post Surgery Purchase
I can't encourage you enough to purchase this. Not a game changer, a LIFE changer. I just had two surgeries on my foot and this has made it so much better. Ice packs normally last 15-30 minutes for me. This thing never seems to quit. The insulation is amazing and holds ice forever. I'm actually wearing it now as I'm typing this haha. I have slept with it for the last few nights and have slept through the night with 0 pain. I accidentally purchased the shoulder pad version but found it still worked perfectly on my foot. BUY THIS NOW!
