Toxic Fumes?Stovepipe does not reach temperatures hot enough to release dangerous fumes from galvanized material. However, welding and brazing galvanized steel will give off dangerous fumes. Galvanizing is, as you know, a zinc coating on the steel to keep it from corroding. But there are some misconceptions about dangers from heating galvanized material. The melting temperature of zinc is 787 degrees F. At that temperature, the zinc can chip or flake but it does not produce toxic fumes. But the boiling temperature of zinc is about 1650 degrees F (900 C). The melting temperature and the boiling temperatures are, of course, two different things. Welding and brazing of galvanized material is where precaution needs to be taken. An arc welder produces an arc temperature of 6500 degrees F. A brazing torch can reach temperatures of about 6000 degrees F. At those temperatures, the zinc will boil and produce gasses.Stovepipes do not get anywhere near hot enough to be a problem. Actually, galvanized duct pipe is used sometimes for stovepipe because it's cheaper than the heavier black pipe. Q: can these radiator rings be painted with high heat stove paint?

any paint or coating on any metal heating device will actually cause less heat to be emitted so it would be a stupid idea if heat is the reason you bought them. same goes for car exhaust ans motor parts, boiler radiators ,pipes ext. only exception is duct work to keep the air warmer.
