2 Pack 8 Slices Baker Street Sliced Rye & Wheat Bread Slices Low Fat

Is reminds me of bread my mother used to buy as part of a treat, alongside various continental cold meats and cheeses, on an occasional trip from our village to the big city (Glasgow). As a child my brother and I were each allowed to choose one kind of bread and one type sausage or cheese. I always chose the rye bread with caraway seeds and Polish ham sausage, my brother opting for baguette and Brie. (Yes, maybe we were rather odd children!)Since growing up I’ve always had a hankering to replace the taste of that bread and have tried lots of versions of rye bread over the years without funding any half as good but now — just minus the caraway seeds — this is the closest yet.It has the mixture of a slight sweetness and the matching very slightly sour taste typical of rye bread and a wonderfully rich flavour. The texture is perfect, too, with just the right amount of chewiness. I have to discipline myself not to keep going back for ‘just a little bit more’ and limiting myself to no more than two, well okay, three, slices at a time. I enjoy it just on its own with some good butter, but it pairs beautifully with cold ham and with the several kinds of cheese I’ve tried it with. It’s ideal, too, as a base for open sandwiches, and seems just begging to be tried alongside some rollmops. But if your tastes run that way, I’m sure it would be delicious just with some jam, especially something like an apricot or cherry one.I’m now back for my third order and I certainly won’t be my last.Now, of only they could make a version with caraway seeds in … (Maybe I’ll have to try just sprinkling a few on my next slice!)

Love the taste it’s so much better than a normal brown loaf. Very good with dates as well as bread brought just before Christmas has a best before date of 22nd March

Have had aa number of these loaves which are supposed to be healthy. They're fine with me but they are an acquired taste so would not be favoured by some people.

Had a problem buying my usual bread took a chance with this an i have now purchased twice fabulous texture great for toasting i love itJust want to say comes very speedily so company gets five plus stars for service

A bit stodgy but passible.

I am a diabetic, so i have to be careful about the kind of bread i eat & how much. This bread tastes delicious & i can eat 4 slices per day, if i want. I am so happy i found it. The best thing is , when I do my blood sugar levels 2,2,3hrs later they haven't gone up. I wouldn't eat any bread b4 this. I am getting more. Thanks Amazon, again, for putting it on your list forme. Beautiful brand comes with a long date so you have time to use it little pricey but is for a treat now and again remind me of Germany
