Dometic SeaStar 2.4 Helm, HH5272-3, Front Mount

Excellent. Replace my old Wagner 7000 series pump perfectly. I bought the front mount with the separate rear mounting bracket. Covered the hole nicely.

Excellent pump for my application. I rigged this up for a front stick steering In one of my boats. Take my advice on people thinking about doing this and do away with the stick and go with the wheel on the pump. Much better.

This is supposed to be a high quality piece of marine equipment. Many people, myself included trust their lives with many marine products. Despite the fact that this piece of equipment will be used in marine environment, none of the exposed fasteners are corrosion resistant. Even the bolts holding the entire pump together are ferrous, with no protective coating.None of the hardware to secure the pump or the even mounting the steering wheel are stainless. They claim this is because of stainless galling, though even that does not explain the zinc plated washers.Galling is easily alleviated with appropriate marine grease or anti seize, it's the marine industry standard (apparently not Seastar's). This is yet another over priced product not designed for long term use in a marine environment. Many users will need to bring this up to an appropriate and safe standard with appropriate hardware and compounds.At a glance I would call this planned obsolesces, as after a few years of actual ocean use (not in a garage), if you ever need to remove these components they will be heavily corroded and a roll of the dice if they are serviceable. All threads are integral to the pump, if any are damage you are forced to make a full replacement.Very disappointing, and sadly unsurprising.
