If you're using it for a precise timer, you should check the time. Mine is actually about 12 minutes (for most of the blue stuff to get to the top, there are still lots of stragglers that I don't count in the total time). My son uses it for his homework timer, so it's not necessary for precision, but it does claim to be +/- 10% accurate, which it is not. Nevertheless, it is fun to watch.

I bought this to prove to one of my bosses where her time went because she couldn’t get things done. This pretty timer showed that what seemed like 5 minutes was really 20.

This thing is really neat looking, and it seems well made. It’s definitely a fun and interesting desk item. But when I timed it a few times I get somewhere in the range of 15:45-17:00 or so instead of the approximate 10 minutes promised. So, as a 10 minute timer I can’t recommend it. I debated returning it, but I think I’ll keep this one. Maybe one day I’ll discover it’s useful to have a handy reference for 16 ish minutes.
